Relax. You don't have to do much of it. I need a French translation for ...

"All you can eat!"

as in an "all you can eat buffet" where you pay a fixed price and get all the grub you want. I wonder if there's a common French expression along the same lines?

Appreciated. I'll tell you my project mark in four days

Hey Cunobelin. I hope it's not too late but it's called: "Buffet a volonte"
There are accents but my keyboard can't type it.
Here they are: "`" over the lone 'a', and a "`" inversed (accent aigu it's called) over the "e" on volonte.

I am 100% positive it's the word.

OMG! You just said French! I hate french language! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! 2 years of that has scared my brain for life
I know some french.
Je voudrais steak-frites et pomme de juice.
I would like a steak with fries and an apple juice.
Parles vous francais? Anglais?

Thanks SuperR Sounds about right. I've consulted several online dictionaries but they're surprisingly limited

Wanna hear my clever resteraunt name? "L'Hippopotame Faim" I hope it means what I think it does...

Oh, great. So you learned french in school, and now you won't let me understand what you say... Very well, 'cause I learned Arabic...
Albait Kbir, Wahawlahu - Bustan (thats about the only sentence I remember. I wish I knew how to write Arabic on the computer)
Or maybe I'll just stick to heberw
שנה טובה

French is not a problem for me since I was raised and went to elementary/secondary school under French education!

However Hippo, "L'hippopotame Faim" means nothing in french since you forgot to insert a verb (nearly obligatory in any cases).
So you would have to use: "L'hippopotame Affamé"
(thanks, duke, for the alt+xxx thingy).

Don't quit! French is hard to learn and its grammar is complex, but it's not impossible!

G-Man ,i'm trading the meanings of my words for yours.

it are 3 and 4 letters ,and the last letters of the words are the same.what would that mean?

I means Shana tova - Happy new year, since now in Israel it's rosh hashana - the jewish new year.
Shana - year
Tova - good
Rosh - head/beggining

I'm glad you don't want me to translate the Arabic sentence I wrote 'cause I really can't remember what it means.

Wait a sec, you're from belgium! I'm still mad about you guys... I've been in Belgium last year. Somewhere along the road we got lost and asked someone for help. He knew English, he understood our question, but replied in french. It took me 5 hours to get from Holland to Brissel. Someday I'll get my revenge. The day you hear on the CNN "Israel elected a new PM - G Man" You should run like hell to the nearest atomic bunker. Hehehe...

Hey hippo, what grade are you in? in Ontario, you only have to take french up to grade 8, unless you actually want to take more french.

Edit: Crap, i forgot to turn off my signature. It's so old.

MMmmmm, didn't go to this OT forum for days (coz there isn't original threads anymore, just tons of debates about a certain subject) and I can find a "delicious" discussion about French language... reminds me some good stories on this forum, with Circee, he he
Hey, Sun, you told me you planned to do your university studies in Paris right? Just join me there

Oh and Pachy, yeah all you can eat is generally used as buffet à volonté. Now, I challenge you to use the à and the é on your english keyboard
And I've found some oxymorons too. How can a non-brained creature have homework to do, especially French homework?

PS: to whom it may concern: unless you're a girl, you should better say "je ne suis pas sûr" instead of "sûre"

Pele la verga los franceses....

For the most part anyway. Some are alright....

You know ,that's typicly belgium allright. We like to laugh. We kinda are a jolly old burgundian-style-livving bunch of people.I do those things all the time in my home city, we have a lot of tourists and i ask where a monument is whe just say it's bombed down. (guess you can relate to that )
You have to see the look on their face.

Anyway ,be carefull with those nukes cause we are quite "Nuclear capable" aswel. We have 20 nukes at Kleine Broghel ,gotten from our "deer" "paying American's".

Well, I won a Reeses Pieces box (not just the box ) for the most original advertisment for my restaurant Apparently my French teacher thought the title was just fine, but she's just a balding idiot who speaks about 4 languages, non of them fluently. She also has Rogaine fits...

Lenin: I'm in grade 11. You only have to take French until 8 as a requirement, but University admittance out here requires French 11 for the sciences and math and French 12 for the arts, so I'm stuck in it for at least another 4 months. Easy though.

I'm glad Spanish is more practical in THIS country--it's a LOT easier than French....

I think I explained this above.
Est-ce que notre cher mongol devient sénile?
Or do you doubt that Hippo is capable of reading English now too?
Waht in the world are Reese's Pieces?

Mon Cher Duke o Nukem
I'm not sénile, nor débile. Just distracted
Sorry indeed, I should learn to read, now that I have discovered writing and literacy

Oh and btw, I'm just curious, what is grad 11? Highshool? University? College? Please explain me a bit more.

Well once you've got 20,000 experience points then you can move up from a level 10 hippo to a level 11 hippo. It allows you to learn loads more spells including the wonderful Omnispam.

Seriously, I presume that if the school system in Hippoville is the same as in Blighty then year 11 is 5th year of secondary school, or about 16 years of age.

In Israel we have to learn arabic between 7-9 grades, and whoever wants can continue learning.
But arabic isn't very popular. The only good thing about it is that you have better chances to go to intelligence when in the army (intelligence has a reputation for being an easy route - all you do is seat and listen to arab radio stations all day). After that there isn't much use to it.
