Whoever made the dialogue for Diplomacy...needs to die

Seriously, I just asked King Loius (sp?) what he thought of another leader and he said "he's da bomb!"

Cmon now. I think that ruins the game a bit. I think the dialogue should be dramatic and appropriate. He's a king, so he should talk in the regal (sp?) sense.

They should even do some research to make each leader talk in a nature that is befitting to his personality.

I agree. Stuff like "It'll be way cool!" is really childish. I don't pretend to be very "mature", but these lines just seem very out of place. Kings and emperors of old shouldn't talk like 21st century adolescents.

And don't even get me started on the excessive exclamation marks ("Sounds like a deal!!!", etc.) that appear all over the game.

I know there is a mod for this but possibly they could include real quotes if at all possible for all leaders.

The "It'll be way cool!" is just a little quirk. Alexander the Great was young ;) remember. Just like when Catherine says. "I like to have CLOSER relations with other leaders". Still outside the initial meeting they should be more matured. Stalin: He's da bomb? :crazyeye:

I KNOW

they give such cartoony looks to these influencial and important figures of history. its like making hitler say: "hell yeah, those the orange jews is CONCENTRATED man!" or making napoleon say: "foo shizzle, them spaniards are getting so mashed, im eating them with my fries dude!"

honestly, i think we owe these people some respect (or atleast their due realism). who the f*** thought of having Alexander the great saying "way cool", Catherine (no offense) being kind of a slut in the game and Julius caesar offering you SALAD???!!?

*under the hitler comment, due note i have nothing against jewish people, their religion, customs or in any other ways. i have good friends that are jewish, i just thought that would be funny. i think the jewish paved a path for all monotheistic religions (being the first known of such) and having them created the holy center of the three largest religions. god bless america.

I don't know about the others, but Catherine really was a slut. She probably slept with a good third or half of the Russian officer corps.

Well, I love it when they call each other "nasty" and "must be destroyed" and stuff like that, that's somehow what can be expected when negotiations break down, but it's all those puerlie modern lines that's gotta go (though Montezuma's "Talk to the ceremonial blade" is a stroke of genius IMO  ).

Are you quite finished groveling?

yes. yes i am. it never hurts to grovel a bit.

what about the option of razing:
BURN BABY BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if they fixed that, and only that i'd be happy

I too think the dialogue can be a bit goofy.

But it pays to recall the market the game is aimed for...
