After the new pach i tried ottomans again. before the path they where very much okay with the best UU(jannisary) and the worst UU(siaphi) and an okay abillity: In water maps a large fleet of galleys can be usefull in theory. The only problem that time was the high manitance cost of the fleet. now we got a exelent naval civ(abillity) with good possibleties for offensive(Jannisary, Siaphi) and not like England who only have good use at sea.

The qestions is, who still think ottomans is useless?

england works fine on every pangea, continent or other map with atleast big oceans. they even work on pure land maps since longbowmen arent that bad (imho the strongest medieval unit now maybe with the landsknecht).

Just finished a game as ottomans on tiny earth and I don't think they are weak. As soon as I had 1-2 triremes I started farming barb ships. Got a huge fleet and dominated the world in a few turns. After that I disbanded excess ships or gifted them to city states. If you disband them in your territory you get some extra (15 I think) gold... so I made approx 40 gold per ship. Australia and the Philippines were great farming spots throughout the game, as the AI and I never settled there. Kept barb camps alive so they spawn ships faster.

I started this game pre patch a few weeks ago and finished it post patch. Didn't notice any difference.

Janissaries suffer the problem of all late-game UUs for dedicated warmongering, but an army of Janissary-Infantry is absolutely terrifying. It might be the strongest of all possible modern militaries.
