Why did god create...

Than - for both of you - we are discussing something different than the common understanding of god.
People have different...."understandings"....of God. Not all of them being the same as yours. Keep that in mind.

If god is a slave to consequences, much of the incongruence that he is accused of indeed disappears, and the critique addressed falls in the realm of lack of evidence, not in the realm of conceptual inconsistency.

But - and this is a big "but" - my problem with this approach is that those who advocate this always evoke god's power as "enough to do this or that" whenever it's convenient, and after that throw his shortness of supremacy to get out of any corner in questions of ambiguity such as the problem of evil.
Ooh, here's another bit of fun I like to have with the above: maybe God is merely perfect from our viewpoint? We tiny little humans look upon Him (assuming He even exists, which he doesn't, but just for argument's sake) and see a Being of such vastly greater power than our own that He appears infinite and perfect. When you look at a gigantic forest from a great distance, you can't see the imperfections in it. All you see is green.

NOTICE: Poster is not religious.

Why did god create these (by god, I mean whatever god you believe in):

smallpox
AIDS

Like it or not, all of these things are life-forms whose main interest is survival and procreation, just like a bird or an elephant. In order to do that they devour human bodies. They have as much a right to flourish as human beings -- to the limit of their own ability to compete. If there is a God, I highly doubt that he favors human beings over all other life forms.

Exactly.

The thing is, people try to apply logic to God, and right there, everything falls apart. If God truly is omnipotent and transcends anything we could know, how can you possibly apply human logic to Him? Doesn't make sense. I'm definitely no staunch religion supporter, I just don't see how logic can deny God's existence

Because our logic in supposed to be made in the image of his. :p

Yeah, in yet another great display of god's mundane essence, the word that describes it is no different than any other, and subject to personal opinions.

Nevertheless, this does not change at all the fact that, also like other words, there is enough agreement so we can know what we are talking about.

Eh, enhancing your pledge for grammatic fluidity and coming up with a "relative perfection"? Well, I guess perfection, like god, is also subject of different "understandings" depending on each person... :D

Regards :).
