I usually have just the opposite problem. Everyone likes me so much it makes me feel bad for invading them and taking their cities. Adopting their religion, trading fairly and gifting them stuff when they ask makes them happy. Having opposite religions, bad trade deals and refusing to give them what they want makes them angry.

i have the same prob too - the ai always seems to hate me - most of them are annoyed with me and i usually have only one friend.....
also the other civs never try to make frnds - i mean i am usually among the top 3 leaders and shouldnt the weaker civs try to make frnds with me ???
in one game, mao was pleased with me and cautious with alexander - i asked mao to cancel all trade deals with alex and he tells me tht he cant do this to his good frnd ?????? i had to bribe him to make him friendly before he agreed to cancel the deal

I've noticed the same thing. There are always one or more AI-rivals that keep declaring war with me while the AI's only occasionally fight with each other and then for a short period of time. My last three games I played on noble and it's every time the same. On noble the chances should be the same but I feel like it's more difficult for me to win than for the AI, because they can develope in peace while I'm constantly having war with one or more AI's. And it's not possible to avoid that with diplomacy because most of the time they won't even listen.
It's a bit disappointing but I'm not ready to give up yet. I have to adapt to the game, I think.

I notice two things about this subject, as I felt the same in my first 10 or so games.
1) Warmongers look for any excuse to pick a fight. If they think they have a chance, they'd declare war on absolutely anyone.
2) Having a low ranking in military strength (on the stats pages, the red checkmark, I believe) is like a bullseye. You can be sure someone will invaribly mess with you if you're high in points, but low in military strength.

3) Isabella will go after anyone of a different religion when conveniently possible.

Your right about any leader deemed as "agressive" ... they will hit you the second they have a larger military than you.
Some are just back-stabbing cretins ... such as Saladin.
He had a Pleased rating towards me and a mutual defense pact ... cancelled the pact and all deals and delivered a hammer blow to my country.
Watch out for Open Border agreements ... most just use the deal to case out your country and find the weak points to attack.
