Why does Communism keep failing?

The fact that we can post such things, with no fear of getting shoved up against a wall and shot, pretty well puts to rest the notion that we live under a capitalist fascist something-or-other-ist government. :)

Here, watch this:

George Bush sucks! (No, I don't actually believe that, the point is I can type it without fear)

Now, let's see if I suddenly....."disappear". I'll get back to ya in a week. :)

I wonder if that person from China can do that...

That's presuming 'they' agree that you're important enough to warrant censure - and so unsophisticated as to rush off and wack you :scan: ... There's someone at the door, brb...

I've seen dictatorships go after and punish "ordinary" people fairly often. The only thing that appears to decide if somebody is "important" is whether or not they toe the party line.

The only exception I can think of is just before Iraq War #1. There was a clip on TV showing some Iraqi schoolgirl saying she was scared of the impending coalition attack. This was not the correct line; she was required to say "they shall swim in rivers of their own blood" or something like that. Saddam's Thought Police were not needed; that girl was coerced into changing her tune by the other people gathered around her. They hounded her ceaselessly, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE GODDAMN CAMERA, until she spouted the correct opinion. The Iraqis were imposing state rule on THEMSELVES.

How's THAT for depressing? If you're worried about government thugs in black helicopters, don't kid yourself--the biggest threat to your freedom is peer pressure from the guy next door. He who does not say and do what everyone else is saying, is ridiculed and ostracized. An extremely effective form of thought control.

Of course I can! :)

GEORGE BUSH SUCKS!

Hee hee hee... ha ha ha... :D  :rotfl: :crazyeye:

Well, from an economic standpoint they were unable to accurately determine the needs of the people, because socialist states running the economy are prone to surpluses and shortages, which, needless to say, starts to make people very angry. Also, the Soviet Union focused more on the development and manufacturing of weapons instead of luxury items, which also could make some people mad.

Now we will only send 250,000 troops to help with the Invasion of Taiwan.
You'll help us invade Taiwan?

Thank you... thank you... thank you... :worship:

Ok, enough spamming and joking and playing my role to the hilt. :D Any more of this and I'd earn a ban. :p

On topic, I've said it all before: We're not ants... communism simply goes against human nature... we're all greedy AND lazy... much better to have a system where effort or ability is rewarded, cuz it wil provide an incentive for people to work harder or smarter. ;)

Compare:

A farmer under capitalism: I will work hard and save money, so that I can send my son to school. Sure I'll suffer, but he will become an engineer, and live a better life than me. If he succeeds in his life, HIS son might just finish an MBA...

A farmer under communism: I will work no more and no less than my peers. Must not attract attention from anyone (cuz this generally becomes a bad thing). No need for my son to study cuz since the state takes care of us, he'll never go hungry anyway (besides, the state hates intellectuals anyway). About the only thing to do, if I have time and the opportunity presents itself, is to suck up to the powers that be...

Good. You still alive. Now say Mao Zedong sucks!
Meh! Mao truly sucked anyway as a peacetime ruler. He was brilliant only in war. :p

Even the locals know that.

... and the politburo, head of the party, and pretty much everyone in China. Damn, I knew you were going to come back with that. :)

Sure!

Communism: The bleif that everything is owned by the people; Factories, Houses, etc. In reality, tho, The government ownes everything and distributes them among the people, equally. Therefore, in a new Commie nation the former slaves, and former noble rich people are at the same level. How's that?

Reasonable, though I'm not sure you understand the entire concept.

Thinking back to the "Bush sucks" thing, there was an old joke between Reagan and An-"drop-off" - Reagan tells Andropov that if an American wants, he can come to the White House and say "I don't like the way President Reagan is running America."

Andropov tels him that such is nonsense and any Soviet citizen is free to come to the Kremlin and tell him "I don't like the way Ronald Reagan is running America."

Yes, and the sky is blue, apples always fall toward the ground and light travel in a vacuum with a speed of ~3.00*10^8 m/s.

What's your point?
My post alone is pointless without Damnyankee's "I wonder if that person in China can do the same?" and Basketcase's even earlier post!

Learn to read entire threads and appreciate witty repartee.

rmsharpe also explained where I got the inspiration for that retort. Yes, it was a very old Reagan era joke...

I don't like the way what's-his-name is running China.

I got a chuckle out of it though. :)

Could you e-mail your current president over there, in China, tell him he sucks, than not be disappeared? Any American, or European citizen could do that for our leaders.

Actually, a British kid got arrested for emailing Bush and doing this.
Americans are arrested for making anti-Bush stuff under PAtriot.

In any case, you call China communist; big no-no.
