Why not 2 July?

patience....i would much rather it be late and good, then early and rubbish

hopefully they have learnt their lesson with the vanilla release being so buggy and unplayable, that said, i haven't played civ5 since news broke about BNW, so i am getting somewhat twitchy

Because it's not done yet?

People always demand that a game come out early, then they complain that there are still some bugs and it wasn't delayed until it was perfectly polished.

That's true. Then again, who's actually going to get anything done from July 3-5? A few workplaces, mine included (Fortune 500 company here) are actively encouraging people to take July 5 as a vacation day this year.

Well demanding it a week earlier isn't that much of a demand really, besides it's an expansion not an entirely new game. I didn't demand for it to come out a month earlier. I do get worried too when games come out too early. (For example Rome 2 seems to be pulled back to early September instead of early October). And I am 90% sure that the expansion is done already, everything else is distribution and burocracy.;)

You're "demanding" they alter their pre-set release schedule to convenience you. It is too much. Nobody has any reason to be that self-entitled. Instead of picking an arbitrary date before the announced release date and complaining that it's not out then, try picking an arbitrary date after the announced release date and take consolation that we don't have to wait that long.

Best that it doesn't release on July 2nd. You think Firaxis is going to be around to hotfix any potential major issues during 4th of July weekend? Yeah, me neither.

What?? Calm down man, geez. I was saying all of it on little funny note. I didn't mean it really. Prehaps i used a bad word "demand"? It is more of my wish for which I rationaly know that it won't come true. Can't a man have some wishes in this modern world, anymore?? Or do we have to see everything so realisticly-cruel?:(

It's probably because of the holiday that they're releasing it the following week, to have a full week available to patch any game-breaking bugs and such.

I'm fine with the date now; I need to settle in my new laptop, and get the hang of Windows 8. :badcomp:

Anyways, It's better then the original date on the official website.

December 31.

I don't understand why BNW had to come out so deep in July, why couldn't it at least come out 2 July, that is early July, more better. Because if I remember G&K came out around this time last year. God damn it!!

Better not, I took off the week of the 8th.......:)

Rushed games are usually buggy (and it shows).

It would be better to delay its release and not be as buggy.

At this point the game is completely finished. They're either working on patches, the next expansion, the next installment of the Civilization series, another brand new game, or jobless and back on the market.

Dude, he was kidding around and it's certainly done. I doubt they are overhauling it at the 11th hour. They have this thing called a code freeze before release, at least if they have an ounce of common sense.

I guess if you wanted it to be perfect it would never be done I suppose.....

Edit: what ptoss1 said.

I like games being released too early! We wouldn't have Gods and Kings if it weren't for a certain rushed game...

jeez my classes were over in early may what are y'all doing

yeah I was surprised, we actually got the 5th this year too, though we need a "skeleton crew", but I didn't draw the short stick!

anyway I look at the calendar and see I will be off from the 4th until the 7th, only 2 days away, but by then I'll be so far behind at work (deadlines on the 10th) and losing 2 business days to do that in, that I will be unable to take off :(, oh well, I can celebrate with the rest of the world on the 12th after 5pm!:king:

Lol, man. Many of the people here have jobs and they only get holidays once (twice) a year. And others like me are on faculty and have exams (I have one today) and have to study for them. For example I'll be free after July 9th, when my last exam is.:)

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm taking the Bar Exam July 30.

I would have loved for this to be released Aug. 1 instead. Luckily I'm not selfish, so I'm cool with all you playing it early ;)

Realllyyy? Are you part of the dev team? I doubt it is finished now. If anyone let me guess, They might listening the theme of the 5 civ that's announced later, debug things and AI, test the game or finishing some main system.

In short, They would refining the game so there would have no torrent of blame if they release the game a week before.

Louis, I'm amazed and slightly worried for your sake. My brother is also taking the Bar Exam that week. He studies about 10 hours a day for it and has time for little else. I have no idea how you have the time to post on civ forums. Best of luck to you.
