I didn't notice how old is this thread. :)

Anyway - regarding Zygmunt Bauman - I would say that he knows evil from autopsy (and in his books he even writes that in modern societies it has been easy to become evil and do evil things for everyone) - but the problem is that he doesn't really consider his actions in the Communist service as evil ones.

Well, Germany had more than one holocausts anyway. Remember its nice german colony in Africa?

Not to mention the other massacres all over occupied Europe during ww2.

Second, irrelevant. You say that the guy's a criminal and a murderer, yet there's nothing whatsoever in the piece you quote/link to - which, incidentally, is a six-year-old article from a newspaper, not an academic source - to support the claim that he ever killed anyone.
