Will a friendly Montezuma DoW?

I've seen vassals with +27 relations, and that was only friendly.

The game i mentioned early, Monty did get the +2 you shared your technoligical advancments with us, and "mutual milatary struggle.(I DoW several people). So, in conclusion, Monty will not backstab you if he capitalates to you, as long as you give him some free techs, and go to war with him.
Hope that's helpful to someone else in the same situation

Anyway, I won the game. It was kind of close, but I won a space race victory.

Just as you guys said, Montezuma did NOT DoW the whole time, even though my power rating was ridicolously low (I never built any more units then the longbow, 2 muskets and the explorer).

Domination was kind of risky, but he and Pericles just kept going back and forth. The weirdest part was when Montezuma captured Aachen, and seemingly knowing it was the third time he had done so and he would not be able to hold it, razed it to the ground and later when he captured Corinth for the first time he did the same thing!

The game ended with Monty having 71% domination, I was scared I would lose. Bribing Montezuma (to stop warring against Pericles) didn't work either.
Thankfully they went to peace on their own, 4 turns before I finished the spaceship.

So the remaining 14 turns were a safe ride to Alpha Centauri. (although Montezuma DID DoW on Pericles about 2 turns from the end of the game, and infact captured two cities, but since they were in revolt he still was so so close but so far from the Domination victory)

It's always a bit comical when you try to bribe an AI out of war, and the option is in red.

"We'd rather win the game, thank you very much". Ha.

Quick insider info: Monty CAN'T DoW on friendly. This is not based on opinion but on solid game intel.

He is annoyed at me. will he declare war on me??!!??!!
I gave him like 8 free techs trying to get him at least cautious, so he might pose a threat. Should I be worried??!!??

Well, if he is your vassal he CAN'T DoW. Even if he is furious/raging/pissed/foaming@themouthmad

Monty makes one of the best vassals in the game if you can get him to. He attacks willingly and with force, and if he's your vassal he probably has been given techs to make those #'s relevant.

Okay, I thought I had heard when I first got BtS to treat your vassals and colonies nicely or they'd DoW you, like American revolution

The only way a capitulated (!) vassal can dow you is if you demand a ressource from hin and he refuses.

Otherwise a vassal needs to break free before he DoWs you.

I've never seen it happen to me.

Not due to her own war plans, she needs to be bribed, so make her the tech leader and you'll be safe.

Yes, because she is the only leader who has DeclareWarThemRefuseAttitudeThreshold = FRIENDLY.
All of these thresholds are in CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml, but it appears, that some of them (trading Resources, Civics, Religions) are not working properly, which I am trying to discuss in this thread.

Yes, but as DanF5771 says, she needs to be bribed. In addition, Cathy will only accept a war bribe from a "friendly" rival. So a DoW decision from a friendly Cathy should be a rare occurrence.
