Will Civ3 Run Under Windows 95?

The system requirements page on the official Civ3 website says you need Win98/2000/XP. However, system requirment information on the Civfanatics website says you need Win95/98/2000/XP.

Any ideas which one is right?

Any luck making Civ3 run under Win95?

Thanks in advance!

Microsoft no longer support Win 95, which is why most official game sites won't say that their game will run under 95, even if it does.

In the case of Civ 3, I don't know though.

Vanilla Civ3 should run fine on 95, although I am not so sure about PTW/Conquests...

YES civ runs under 95 and 98 but I couldn't get it to run under windows 2000, so I had to repartition my HD and have a dual boot OS and put 98 on the other partition. But that was 3 years ago and now I have a new computer with XP on it and don't have any problems that I did like with 2000

sabo: I ran CIv3 for 2 years on Win2000. ;)

(Now I run it on Linux, with Winex.)

Thats weird padma, I could not get it to work with 2000, I used to just get the splash screen and then it would bomb, had no problem with '98 though, and it was the same machine. Oh well, it was probably just me

Could have been video problems.

Problems come from any part built on the shifting sands of windows components.

AFAIK the Civ3 app uses none of that, as the crude frame controls demonstrate.

Thats what I was thinking alamo, but I thought it would be cheaper to put 98 back on my PC then to go out and buy a new video card
