Will my computer run Spore? (System Requirements)

I have 1.86 GHz, but the requirement is 2.0. I can play the demo creature creator fine that has the same requirement. Will I still be able to run the game or should I cancel my order for Spore?
The requirement is a 2ghz Pentium 4
If you're using an AMD or a Core/Core2 processor then it should run

I don't think that this thread needs a sticky, it's not really that critical or long-term.

Damn. I have to spend $120 to upgrade to Leopard... ;_;
Is it usual with macs that you have to upgrade your OS regularly to have the new programs working? It feels a bit strange that they skip backwards compatibility this soon.
They can forget about forcing me into buying Leopard just to be able to buy Spore... A lot of people must be in the same situation as me, so is it a possibility we'll see a patch that will make Spore playable with Tiger?

This thing have made me kind of worried about Diablo3 to mac, that's a game I've waiting for in contrast to Spore.

I have some sort of Intel 945G integrated graphics chip, and it's running Spore albeit at 800x600 and the lowest settings. I also have a Core 2 Duo E6550 and 2 gigs of RAM. I haven't really noticed any problems with gameplay.

Ok, My new PC is being Built will pick up in 24 hours- then Load Spore almost 7 days after buying it!
This is the spec's Hope it will run on it?
AMD 5000 2.2 Ghz
2GB RAM
ASUS Gforce 9600 512 RAM
HDD 160 GB

That will definitely run it.

My PC:
P4 2.4 gHz
2GB RAM
Radeon X1650 Pro

can run it on low settings at 1024x768 or medium at 800x600. I can't wait to see what this game looks like with a more powerful pc (hopefully in a few months)

Okay so technically the fact that I have a 64 mb video card means I shouldn't buy spore, but I have played countless games that say they need 128 mb and run fine on normal settings. The creature creator works fine, so should I write this 128 bs off as a conspiracy between EA and the video card industry? For example I play Battlefield 2142 on high settings all the time and it runs fine...when I have half of the "required" memory. Another 128 game, Sins of a Solar Empire features a lot of quick zooming in and out that I figure will also be featured in Spore, and it runs fine.

I could possibly pull out my old Mx 440 and see if that would run it.(its a 64mb VRAM card that should meet all requirements besides the memory one ) Id really not want to mess around with drivers at this point though.

oh yeah, dont worry about it. I have become an expert at returning already opened PC games to unsuspecting best buy employees. call of duty 4 comes to mind....now that's a game that truly needed the 128 mb...but I see that as being much more graphic intensive than spore will be.

I could not run it on my older PC which is why I am having to upgrade to a new complete system
My old card gforce 440 -64 MB
Spore kept saying "your graphics card is below requirements"
So there was no way around to start the game.
You need min graphics 128 ram card and a 2 ghz processor.

well, that sucks...i have a geforce 7150...does that help at all or is it really all about the memory number

If what SpurnSpore said, then no, it does not. Looks like it just checks for a number.

Kinda sucks though. It should give you a choice whether or not you want to run it (Make the message a warning, not a barrier)

Geforce 2/4 MX doesn't support pixel shader 2.0

Geforce 7150 is an integrated chipset. You can use BIOS to allocate system RAM as VRAM

It's a DirectX 7 card, it only supports T&L. Pixel shaders weren't available until DirectX 8 (1.x) and DirectX 9 (2.0 and up)

Whoa hold up, so i can make my video card have 128 mb? I must investigate this BIOS you speak of.

Yeah. Restart your computer, then when it's starting up it says something like "Press (key) to enter setup" where the key is usually Delete or F8 or some other key. Then go through the menus until you find an option to change the amount of video memory. Then save and exit

Okay thanks I'll try that.

Nice I changed it to 128 mb. Now I need to convince myself that I really don't have the money right now to rush out and buy Spore...
