Windows 7 (64 bit) woes...please help

I recently upgraded from XP to windows 7 64b and I have had a great deal of trouble running Civ 4, BTS, and almost everything else that I liked. I have tried all of the usual things (unistall/reinstall, updating all my drivers, and going to MS to see if they had any patches) but alas, I am hoping that someone much my intelligent than I reads this and can help.

I play on 7, and have no problems. Did you buy a new computer or just upgrade your os? If your computer meets specs for 7, or just barely does then that may be why? I had an old xp system, installed 7 for giggles ya kno? Then I went to play some games but the performance was terrible. This was back when 7 first came out. Ive since got a new pc and it runs all my games fine, but its much better than my xp system was.

As i dont have a "this is why its happening" answer im sorry. Tell me alittle more about whats happening.

Im running BTS on my Studio XPS 8100. The only bug I have is the starting box that says : Loading Python Etc.

What are your system specs? I think you can find them in Computer/ System Properties.

Unfortunately, TrachMan, I fear that upgrades of operating systems are not optimal solutions. Clean installs are infinitely preferable. Wish I had better news for you.

There were a couple of DLLs that I had to insert, in order to get Civ4 to work on W7 x64 Ultimate. Best of luck to you. ~ Bamm

i too often have trouble with CIV on 7. sometimes when the loading screen pops up it will just stop loading and ill have to try a few times and wait alm ost 25 minutes until i can start it up. any help?

Have you tried uninstalling/ reinstalling? Do all your other activities take some time to do? Did you buy a new pc? Or is it your old one and you put 7 on it? If your pc is older and had xp, most likely 7 isnt gonna make it "better". If your pc was origanly vista, then youll see same or better performance. This is all my opinion, but its 99% true fromwhat ive seen. First post some specs. If its taking 25 mins to load a game, without knowing anything else, you need a new pc to game on, or time to upgrade some things....

the thing is everything else runs fine. its only somnetimes that it takes forever to load. yesterday it took 5 tries though. everything else in CIV runs fast as can be and other games such as HOI2 run fine as well. i only hvae trouble with new games such as HOI3 since my computer is relativley new but not a hard core gaming system. ill try reinstalling and see if it helps lessen the number of long loads.

I've been running Civ4 in 7 64bit without fault, initial load screen seems slower than XP though. Have you tried simply changing compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2? This has allowed a lot of my older games to work fine.
