Building a new computer over the weekend E8500 GTX260 4GB etc....

My plan is to go with Win7 RC1 64. If I do not like what I see buy a Win XP OEM 32bit until SP1 of Win 7 Retail.

If I get feedback from this forum that Win7RC1 is not working "well" then maybe I should go straight to XP 32 or set up a dual boot (which I would prefer not to do).

Advice appreciated?

I have seen about half a dozen or so posters here using 7 and Civ4/BtS - half of them had rather severe troubles getting the game to run at all - while the others had little or no problems. From the descriptions it seems that some graphics drivers do not yet play nicely with the game on 7, there seem to be no other problems and apparently if it runs it runs better than on Vista :)

Thanks I read the comments as well.. I was hoping for current evaluation of the situation.

I guess I need to be a guniea pig on the issue

hmmm ... this is good news. Currently running on Vista64 and awaiting the full release of Win7-64 when it is released.

I am running Win7-32 at work and am suitably impressed.

lemon merchant and i are getting the retail version of win 7 64 bit in mid july. shes writing a civ - vista survival guide right now for the tech support section, and she was talking about adding a win 7 chapter to it once shes feeling better and we get it to work with bts and the drivers and stuff.

not sure how long thats gonna take so i guess stay tuned.
