Has anyone tried playing C3C using the XP trapdoor available in Windows7 Professional and Ultimate? How did it go??
I am running Civ3 Complete with no problems on a laptop with Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1. My problem is that under Windows 7, most of the overlays in the editor for Conquests do not display. The odd thing is that I am not having problems with the editor for Play the World or the basic game. Very odd.
I'm running Civ3 (specifically, the Civ 3 Complete version, and I'm playing Conquests) on my laptop running Win7 Pro. It runs fine.
... ... Well, I still have my Civ2 CD, and that's too old to play on Win7 natively. I'm told it would still work in the virtual machine; just need to try it.
- I have Civ2 running on my windows 7... no CD was needed for this. I copied straight over from my 95 comp...lol
"most of the overlays in the editor for Conquests do not display".....
I find that when building a new map I can't see where I've place goody huts or barbarian camps etc,,, i assume this is what you are referring to? - I haven't tried all of the overlays.
Hope some smart person can fix this problem.
river and starting location both work fine,,,luckily.
Success - Sort of.
In the spirit of trying everything we tried C3C in Windows7 without using the XP portal. It loaded and works with a few glitches. First: when activating the program the audio works but the vidio does not. Second: I cannot find where 'saves' is located. A plus. ... ... The overlays, including resources are visible.
