Sometimes. Depends on my mood and if I'm in a rush to get to my turn. And if it's a wonder I haven't built in a long time or a wonder I almost never build (which for me is nearly all ancient and classical wonders) I'll watch the whole thing.

The wonder videos in Civ IV were better because they had more style, and even those I sometimes skipped. I mostly skip Civ VI wonder building videos.

The videos are excellent because you get to bask in your civ's achievement as the wonder reveals its glory in the context of the natural and human landscape you've created up to that point. First time in Civ, too.

Always, but for me it's all about the Comic Relief, because almost none of the videos show anything resembling the way the original 'wonders' were built. Such as:
The hollow pyramids being built. Will come as a real shock to a lot of Egyptian archeologists.
The cranes in use to build early Wonders that never, in fact, used cranes (they were invented, by the way, by the Classical Greeks, but not in the form shown in any of the wonder videos)

And then there are the completed Wonders shown completely differently from what they actually looked like when in use, like Stonehenge missing the earth berm and outworks (not to mention the entire neighboring settlement!), all the Greek Wonders missing their brightly-painted statuary and columns, and of course 'The Ruhr' which actually represents several entire cities and should be almost entirely black with coal smoke and soot.

The wonder videos in SMAC were best :D. Civ2 probably 2nd best. I honestly don't remember Civ3 wonder videos, I'd have to look them up.

I always focus on/try to properly absorb the quote first, then I hit the replay button and properly watch the build animation. I love them to bits. I even like seeing the little snippets of my empire in the background, :D

Never. In strategic view the wonder is only focused not animated. When I enable the 3d version, i usually enjoy... but that doesnt happen lately :D.

Just once or twice for each wonder. Or if I manage to build a wonder after a looooong time.
I'm skipping everything in the game, including the quotes when you discover a technology.

Especially those. And especially the godawful intro screen narration. I hit mute before starting the application and unmute only after clicking the spinny globe thing.

'Your species has successfully transitioned from squirrel to fish and back again. You have finally worked out how to walk upright and are therefore able to do agriculture. Have at it.'

'Save file suggests you're heading into the Middle Ages so you're surrounded by all castles and knights and what-have-you...'

'Glorious X, your industrious and faithful people are queueing around the block to Y your Z...'

Occasionally. I actually enjoyed the stills from Civ V more, and the wonder movies in IV were much more enjoyable. The most memorable for me are probably the wonder movies from SMAC, though. Dang, that was a game which got a lot of things right.

Pretty much always. I like such extra things in games. They could've also added an animation for the unfinished structure collapsing into a pile of rubble, if AI beats you to the wonder :)

No doubt, Civ 4 animations were awesome, and I missed them in Civ 5. All iterations' wonder movies also displayed the effects of the wonder at the end, why this is missing in Civ 6?. Civ 3 wonders were still pictures not too memorable, and I remember fondly Civ 2 wonder movies, some of them showing cinematic footage, like Magellan's Expedition. I think Civ 2 movies created the most uplifting atmosphere in the whole series.

The accompanying narration is a different thing, in 6 some texts are good enough, and some I try not to listen too closely to (e. g., Ruhr narration is so terrible, I wish they redid it, as well as some quotes, like that for millions of NASA dollars for ballpoint pen, ugh).

But I like not only to watch wonder animations, lately I play more often with full movement and combat animations too. Goes very well with the console version - you virtually watch an interactive history movie from your comfy couch :)

I kind of like how the lights turn on at the end of many of them, so sometimes I watch them just to see that.

But usually, I don't watch them at all..

That feature isn't exactly missing in Civ 6 either. When you hover over the wonder icon and name at the bottom of the wonder movie it displays a tooltip with the wonder effects. Just one amongst many such opaque UI components in Civ 6 that one can only discover by chance.

Having thought about it I like watching them because it's a good time to take a break and think about what I'm doing. Finishing an important wonder is a turning point and I like to take stock of my situation and maybe get a cold drink. It's also cool to see a close up up the near by tiles, especially if there's a UI in the frame.
