I guess I should thank the RNG for 17 grassland tiles. Unfortunately state property/universal suffrage with towns is a bit far off.

I settled a city with an unirrigated plains wheat, and a plains cow on turn 7.

It's a fun map for barbarians too.

At least on normal sized maps, most starts have a food resource, but great plains has no guaranteed food, resources or 3 hills in the capital.

GP maps are sometimes pretty fun. I don't know if I've ever played a large one, but I imagine barbs are a HUGE p.i.t.a. They play kinda interestingly depending on where you start... generally though, if you start in the "deep south" mired in jungle, or toward the extreme southwest amongst the floodplains, you're going to have a rough time with production I've always found center of the map best -- usually some metal/horse resource and oodles of production. With a decent early UU you can rampage across the map

the thing here is that great plains is non-standard in a lot of ways... it doesn't guarantee food source and 3 hills as other map scripts and thus it can throw you basically everywhere...

this one is very rare for GP though. Can't remember if I rolled GP map without any resource yet (not talking about food resources ;-) I got maps with fur in BFC and no food etc)

Having rolled many GP maps for HOF games, I can say that this start is not that abnormal for this map.

Oh... I didn't know that existed, interesting. Thought she had somehow gotten a free GP and burnt it on a golden age.

Regardless... Considering the date, that's a funny turn of events. At least to me.
