Wordle

Worldle I ended up not liking much because I found it too easy- almost every time I got it on the first guess.

2000 / 1 odds, almost every time! You need to get to a bookmakers ASAP.

Second failure today :( Just too many possible words differing only by the first consonant.

Spoiler :
ADIEU
BRASH
LARCH
PATCH
CATCH
MATCH

Oh right, WATCH

LARCH was foolish repetition of the R. Need to wait until I've had a coffee. It should have been LATCH. Not that it would have made a difference.

The other one I came close to loosing was _ight. No way of telling if its RIGHT, TIGHT, SIGHT, FIGHT, HIGHT, LIGHT, NIGHT of MIGHT.

Think we must be thinking about different games, because Worldle is the one with country outlines, and there's only about 200 countries in the World

This one I dislike for the opposite reason: It's absolutely goddamn impossible unless I just happen to have heard the song before, and unlike a lot of other wordle clones I've seen, this one won't even give you any hints as to whether your wrong guess was in the right ballpark- I actually ended up figuring out who the artist was for today (I just guessed the only one of his songs I actually knew because it kinda sounded like that) but it didn't tell me that I had the right artist (or even the right genre), just that my guess was wrong. I could maybe logic it out a bit if it let me know if my wrong guess was on the right track, but giving me a few more seconds of a song I've never heard before doesn't really help at all!

Also I gotta say their song catalog is super limited to like "really well known songs by the poppiest of pop acts from the last few decades" which isn't a genre I listen to all that much, and it also seemingly doesn't include some really well known songs or artists that just aren't quite "poppiest of pop" genre wise even if they're still fairly poppy- like, at one point I tried guessing Coldplay as the artist and found they didn't have any Coldplay songs in their catalog, because apparently even Coldplay isn't pop enough for them.

Boy, never heard today's song lol.
Without any proper types of hint this should be impossible. Either you know it, or you don't.

I managed purely by chance. Had to gamble on the last guess, because I was pretty sure it could be only one of these islands, and hit the right one by accident.

Despite having all these bizarre territories, it turns out that they don't think that Curacao is a country... (not in the list)

True that, and I don't think it's for me for that reason. Like yesterday's I had no idea 5 seconds in ...in fact knew I'd never heard the song before. What was it called again? But passed it along in case there were some here who obsess about music like we all have friends that do.

Cancel culture!!!
Ya juvenile delinquent! ;)

Anyone who really wants to play those letters as their first guess still has their pick from PINES, SPINE, or SNIPE.

Just sayin'...

Today's Wordle went down to the wire again for me, though it probably shouldn't have...
Spoiler Friday, March 11th :
R A D I O
P A U S E
C A N N Y
Spoiler Hang on, I haven't tried a 'T'-word yet! :
B A T C H
M A T C H
Spoiler Last chance... :
W A T C H
:whew:
I think I'll need to make my next starter "I N E P T"

Hah, just redeemed myself on Quordle, getting the fourth word on the seventh guess.
Spoiler My first 3 guesses aimed at finding/eliminating the 15 most commonly used letters... :
T R A I N
S O L E D
C H U M P
Spoiler ... which gave me all 5 letters for each of the first 2 words I solved :
M I D S T
A D O R E
Spoiler ... which in turn gave me 4/5 letters for each of the last two, and sufficient positional information to solve both :
S I N E W
A G A T E

It's some developer's portfolio object to show off some skills so they can get a job doing something totally different

as it were

Does quordle use the standard pool of answers? TULLE (similar to lace) and AGATE (a type of quartz) seemed fairly obscure, but AXION with an N? A hypothetical subatomic particle postulated to account for the rarity of processes which break charge–parity symmetry.

I guessed AXIOM and WTFed. QUARK and BOSON are in fairly widespread usage, but AXION?

I looked around a bit but couldn't find information about the word lists.

Wordle in 5, quordle in 7, octordle in 12, absurdle in 12 to get the wordle word.

Octordle was kind of fun. It doesn't correctly keep track of which letters I've guessed, though.

I find all of them fun, but I'm not interested in playing more than one game of each per day. They aren't the time sink my real favorite games are.

Today’s wordle in 3, but that crazy one yesterday in 6, on my third _atch

Wordle in 4 (though my 3rd guess was almost exactly the right word with the 4th and 3rd letters swapped), Quordle in 7 (5/7/4/6), and seeing that the even bigger Octordle existed I figured I had to try it, and got it in 12 (6/8/5/4/7/12/11/10)

Someone was talking about the quantum version of wordle, but then was a bit disappointed about it... I think that was a few pages back, too lazy to check.
Turns out there is https://www.quordle.com/ (4 times wordle), and https://qwordle.bhat.ca/ (the "quantum" version). Not sure if I understand the latter always...

Didn't manage Quordle today, the 4th word totally evaded me.
I think I'll add "irony" and "tough" to my regular starting guesses, work well.

For Worldle, that was ridiculous yesterday. Nobody would guess that random antartic island.
Today is easy though .

It is interesting, but today's wasn't hard. I put in my three letter-gathering words and had 9 of the 10 letters, with two in the right spots. The letter pattern for one word was really obvious, so I got it in 4.
If more than a couple of letters are uncommon, though, it will be really tough. I don't anticipate being able to win this one consistently.
