I got it in 5, with only one possible other option, so I still would have pulled out a win if I'd guessed in the opposite order.

I made stupid guesses (contradicting known information) in both quordle and octordle today, but managed to win on the last guess for each one. Qwordle continues to be much easier than I expected it would be, and I won it in 4.

I failed today. Solving this kind of word on Hard Mode is always a matter of luck, and in this case I ran out of guesses before I ran out of possible candidates

I can't believe I haven't played 2 days in a row. Both would have been good tests of my latest strategy, which is for hard mode. Specifically, not guessing a,e,o until i and u are eliminated and not trying r,t,n,s until I get rid of g,h,l or some others. Applying it as a guideline, not a strict rule. I think Sunday would have been a close one but yesterday's was obviously a perfect test for my preference of words like acute, pious, and guild as openers, even though they probably aren't in the list of solutions.

Today I tried "THIEF" but any comment would be a spoiler so....

I got 4/5 of the letters on the first guess, then used the second one to figure out what the 5th was, I could think of 4 other words that would have fit there (Store, Stole, Stoke, and Stove)

Made Quordle in 8 today .
Okay, I've hit one of them in the 3rd guess by accident, because it's one of my standard words, but still .

I failed in Wordle though :/.

Friday 1st

Today was close to what I would generally expect the process to be though this time I didn't follow the hard mode rules. I got bored with the system in my previous post and scared a couple days ago with only managing on 6th while having a single letter after 3 tries and even that on wrong position.
Quordle seems interesting, too though I only did few practise runs.

I got it in 2! First guess had 4 of the right letters and it looked like there was only one word it could be, so I guessed that word, and I was right

Unwisely, I opened with:

F O O L S - at which point I had a sinking feeling that hard mode would trap me into having too many possibilities with too few spaces for new letters - so I shifted into survival mode and started eliminating just consonants for 2 guesses. (April was my first choice to open but not in the list )

S T O R M - after a few minutes determined a final "E" was impossible with what was left, and T had to go last
S P O U T - picked wrong of the two words I saw left
S N O U T - sub par for me but graciously accepted not losing the whole thing after such a risky start.

I did, Expert Mode as always.

After my first three guesses got me that e4, e5 were the first two moves and absolutely no other seemingly remotely common opening moves got played, I realized "wait... It's April 1st... is this a goddamn Bongcloud?"

I almost got it by my 6th guess, but guessed basically every possible sequence of King moves except shuffling back and forth between e2-e1 and e7-e8 for all the moves.

Saturday 2nd

Wordle was an easy 4 so I also did my first daily Quordle. A bit unsure after 6 tries but the 7th & 8th landed with unexpected success so I should prolly stop now while I'm still winning.

However, I do seem to have same general issue with both as

Wife started playing Wordle a few weeks ago so I gave it a try. This was my second one: [Edit: this screen snippet was from February. I guess that's more than a few weeks]


(first time I got it in 4) I haven't played it much since then; I know 3 is pretty good. I use those first 2 words every time to start (the order doesn't matter) because that tells me a *lot* of information about what letters are in play.
