Failed at Quordle with 3/4

I managed another 5/7/4/6, but even though my starters had given me all 5 letters for the last solution (with one correctly placed!), it had me reaching for the scratch-paper again, to brute-force it. Then I kicked myself...

VAPID (admittedly, with _ _ _ _ D plus A, I and P, my first 2 thoughts were "RAPID" then "APHID" — but R and H had already been eliminated)
VIGIL (pretty much a gift: from the starters and the previous solution, I had V I G I _ plus L)
CRANE (starters had given me C R A _ _ plus E, but "CRAVE" was now ruled out, and I couldn't see any other possibilities)

My Quordle starters today identified all 5 letters for two of the solutions (and placed three of them correctly for the first), but only 2 letters each for the other two. Guess 6 essentially solved both of those (8/4/5/7)

Tried a new third starter in Quordle, but lacking 'S', it turned out to be a poor choice, altogether identifying 4 letters for two solutions, three for the third, and only two for the fourth. So I needed another guess to zero in on the first solution, but then the rest fell into place quite nicely (though I think the last one was a bit of a cheat: yes, it's used in English, but it's not an English word...)

My Wordle starter today totally failed to ID any letters, but suggested a second guess which then got me to the solution in only 2 more (and could even have been one, if I hadn't first decided to check for another vowel).

Got a little nervous when my 3 Quordle starters revealed only 2, 4, 2 and 2 of the letters in each solution. But then I realised that I'd eliminated nearly all the commonly used letters, which in turn suggested that several solutions likely included a repeated letter — either one that I'd already ID'd, or one of a now-very-short list of the rarer consonants. Figuring out what the missing couple of letters had to be in each word then became relatively easy (6/8/7/5)
