Words you've used incorrectiably

I see you've decided to hunt after me in multiple threads now too... another fan. :goodjob:

I often find myself agreeing with you when it comes to posters seeing that little rifle guy on the left hand side and opting to make personal attacks, occasionaly regardless of content. When others smell blood and it becomes almost a feeding frenzy, it becomes quite sad to see posters I really like stoop to this.

But really, in this case, come on, it's nothing like the above. When you throw up a hugely sympathetic ally-oop like that, don't be surprised when dudes are lining up to dunk it.

Oh, give it up, Kochman. Either you're being insincere for comic effect or you seem to be developing a persecution complex. There are lots of threads in which lots of the same people take part and thus there are bound to be lots of similar personality clashes.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure how to pronounce 'ascertain'. Is it just 'a certain' or is it 'asser-tayn'?

I'm going to chime in here and say his wording was perfectly adequate and back up that opinion with the highest possible score in English rhetoric/usage on the ACT.

I had something a bit sarky and nasty typed out in response to this, but I deleted it because I don't dislike you as a poster. It's such a poor post though, cardgame. Read it in your head in any other person's voice but your own and listen to how pathetic it sounds.

I always thought it was "a-certain", but I'm reliably informed that it's "asser-tayn".

I tried to use juxtapose in conversation the other day in front of an attractive girl. I used it completely wrong, but to be honest she wouldn't have known if I hadn't caught and corrected myself. Regardless, she was still impressed that even tried to use it. Plus it sounds cool. Jux-ta-pose

This coming from another fellow who often finds it necessary to tell me how to behave, in multiple threads.

@Rugbyfan... you are right, on all accounts... sometimes it is certainly warranted (I suffer from foot in mouth disease)... but generally speaking, I have quite a fan club. I like calling them out on it.

And, it is definitely more like "ass er tane" than a-certain...

One word in english that I used to miuse very often is "Eventually". In french, "éventuellement" means "possibly", and i very often used to say Eventuelly thinking I was meaning possibly !!!!

Ha! That would lead to some disappointment.

Actual in english and Aktual in German (or however it is spell) and other European languages are similarly easily confused...

Does mispronouncing Kochman's name when he's being stubborn count?

All in jest, I hope you can tell :p

Very mature, I'm sure.

Don't be so stiff. It should warm your cockles that you can elicit verbal reactions from me :p

Feel free to abbreviate Mr. Dictator, should you feel the need.

I'm not biased against you nor have I a personal dislike toward you. I'm simply correcting the mistake.

One of my favorite mispronunciations is frequently heard on the Hitler Channels during the Iraq War and Afghan War coverage. They frequently confuse cache ("cash") with cachet ("ca-shay").

Agreed. I hate it when Soldiers get this wrong, it's unfortunately become part of the army lexicon.

Since we delved into grammar usage I think I've never ever ever spelt dying correctly.

I always spell it dieing.
