Worker automation

So basically all this thread establishes is that civ players are a paranoid, micro-crazed bunch with just too much time on their hands.
Excluding early game and critical periods, worker automation and city governors are one of my best buddies.

Don't bother trying to play multi-player then. That paranoid, micro-crazed bunch will have your butt on a platter in no time.

Probably true... Considering that "Noble" is the top of my game right now. I don't spend so much time with Civ as some, if not most you here, may.

@martrix - I totally agree with all of your last post :D.

I automate my workers all the time about 1/3 of the way through the game. I usually play on large or huge maps, with as many as 30 cities, and I am not about to micro-manage 50 workers.

Basically, as soon as I get the techs where they can build plantations and wineries, I am done managing them. The one really annoying thing is that when you get airports automated workers will start using them, sometimes flooding a 4 square island with 10 workers that can't fly back.

Sorry Boss - I'm stuck here in the Caribbean, nothing I can do about it. It seems my travel agent sold me a 1-way ticket.

LOL

I stopped automating workers when I saw a stack of workers replace my only iron mine with a windmill, then alternated turn after turn ... mine ... windmill ... mine ... windmill - most annoying.

I must note one exception here ...
... I automate workers for a few turns after peace treaty in a cavalry war.
... after they've improved a good percent of the damage I turn off automation and tweak the BFCs back to how I want them.

I guess I'm lazier than I initially thought :mischief:
