Worker Improvement

Im useing this thread for any worker improvement because these things tend to get run over when included in other threads as secondary ideas

My first

I think there should be a worker improvement that would create coastal fortress, they would have a certian bombard range with increaseing chance of killing the closer you get, range and lethalness would increase the more advanced, this is i think is needed because coastal forts were built in key positions besides cities (ie Bays and such)
ANy thoughts other worker improvements anything
 
This is thread is harder than it sounds… so many good ideas have all ready been said a long time ago.

Nevertheless, I would still like to see worker units have an option to increase the commerce of a tile. It would work just like mining and irrigation. I can’t even fathom what kind of action it would be, but it still be a little helpful.

roads increase a tiles commerce by 1.
 
I think workers should have an option where there can turn into minuteman or something as a last resort defense,you could change them back to workers whenever they're needed.

Im going to agree with this its insane to think that someone would sit by a let the city get over run

Naval Bases that can be built on small bases where you can station your Navy, downside have it able to be bombed and to be able to destroy the ships(think Pearl Harbor)
 
a lot of times, I build a colony on mountain or jungle just to get the road completed in one turn.
Workers should have the option to slavewhip them to finish any improvement in one turn. Or it instantly finishes 2 improvements on the same tile.

I like the idea. In a game called Dragon Throne: Battle of Red Cliffs you could change workers into units and once the fighting is over the soldiers can be turned back into workers.
 
I think workers could also build 'canals' on land that ships can go through. You can build it starting with steam power and takes around 45 turns. However, the democray worker +50% bonus would not work on this improvement
