World 2004 - Updated

The soundtrack is just a nice touch to add to the scenario. It's nothing special, but that original music gets old quick.
I don't know how much of a differece this might make, but I always run the game with the FastCiv.exe that can be downloaded at Mil-sim.net in the downloads section. It's supposed to dedicate more of the computers resources to the game to help it run faster.

I can only get the Superpowers scenario to work, and it takes 10-15 minutes to load. The other one starts to load, then gives me a black screen. I've tried waiting 10-30 minutes, but it still doesn't do anything.

Read the thread, It takes a long time to initially load the scenario. If the superpowers version works, the full version will too. Just be patient, maybe let it go overnight loading so it doesn't seem like it took too long.

i've never heard of such a thing.

this works? i mean, it really speeds up the turn times? if so, this could be an invaluable utility for ALOT of scenarios around here.

why don't one of you mil-sim guys post that thing here at cfc in theutilities forum?

if it works as you guys say it does (from what i read about it at your site), then i'm certain that it'll be a big hit here at cfc.

btw, what are turn times like in the 2004 scenario?

El Justo, I can't say for sure how much this speeds up the game, I've never timed identical AI turns or anything like that. I think it does speed it up some though, atleast enough that I use it all the time. But then again I'm not 100% it's really doing much. I can tell you for sure that you don't want to be running any other applications while running the FastCiv.exe because it takes much longer to switch from the game to other windows.

I haven't put any direct links here because some of the moderators around here don't like us promoting the mil-sim site too much. However if anyone here want it they can visit the site and check out our work while they're there. FastCiv.exe can be found at www.mil-sim.net under the Downloads/Civilization III Utilities section. You need to register to the site before downloading. This I can't by-pass, I didn't create the scenario and I'm not the site Administrator, I only help develope the new versions and moderate the site.

World 2004 AI turns can take anywhere from 15 to 60 min depending on how fast your PC is and how many nations are at war/making peace. I really get annoyed at how slow the Foreign Advisor pop-ups take to cycle through on large scenarios.

Yup, I'll be here to check up on things if there are any issues.

BTW, If anyone does some comparisons using the fastciv.exe I'm interested to know how much difference it makes (if any).

Just an idea I got to make this scenario even more popular: Make a story about a game. Just add some good pictures, have a good storyteller write it, add a link to this thread, and viola! More people downloading it! I would do this, but my computer hates me, and thus won't let me add pretty pictures (which seem to double a stories popularity just by existing in it....)
