I implore all in the multiplayer community to email Firaxis with their disappointment of not releasing the fixes that we were told about 6 weeks ago. Following you will find my email to Firaxis using th "contact us" dropdown menu. Please make them release the 1.21 patch prior to releasing conquests.
Good afternoon all, It is now 3:40edt and I have just become aware of the latest patch release for our Euro civers. Allow me to be among one of the first to congratulate you.
However, this email is in response to the release of that patch and the misleading of the civ community about it's release. Now I may be grossly using semantics here but I did read where all future patches were going to be released when all versions could be incorporated into one.
The European 1.14 blunder was bad enough, now I feel it will compound the problems that already exist in the game in it's present form. I'm sure you are aware of the many problems plaguing the PTW multiplayer version of the game. I did sit in on a chat and saw that a patch to the current 1.21 version was scheduled to go to testing approximately 6 weeks ago. That patch has not been released as of this email.
Therefore I have no alternative than to assume that there will be no fix for the 1.21 patch. I also believe that it will be a ploy used by Atari to include the fixes in the new addon "Conquests". I mean really, "why make a change now in the middle of June", the last 1.21f patch was release 2/28/03 right. That's approximately 3 1/2 months. So using laws of probability the next patch should be released around 10/1/03. But wait a minute the addon is due to be released 10/28/03. So I guess you expect us to wait until then to have a game that is in excellent (not perfect) running condition.
Quite frankly that is not good enough for me. I make this promise to both Atari and myself, for every business day that passes without a patch for the 1.21 version i will delay my purchase of the addon 1 week. I play online almost everyday. Actually I spend more time rebooting and reloading than playing but this downtime will give me the opportunity try and get a grass roots movement to boycott the new release until the current one is repaired. I promise to do this diligently whenever online, and by using the various civ community forums to spread the word and hit Atari where it hurts, "in the pocket".
You can't imagine how outraged I am at this.
You know the author, see you in the forums.
That's it
