Worst Backstabber?

Alex, Napoleon and Ragnar have lately been pains in my *******s. :(

Forgot about Ragnar.
He and Kublai are the only warmongers who can always compete with me in tech.

Definitely Louis sXb. He will backstab you even you are way more powerful. Most of the time he'll just send in 2 small stacks or a few naval units. We all know this won't achieve anything but he just has to pull this out in almost every game. It can sometimes get very annoying particularly he will do it even he is 40 tiles from you. Now I have a habit of beating him up in every game if he's too close to me.

Napolean is more a bully than backstabber. He demands a lot. When refused 95% he will declare war so you know he's coming (Montsy 99.99% will declare war, so there's a difference). Alex can be made OK if you can find a way to keep him occupied. He basically needs a place to burn his military units.

Mansa can be bad, but when your power rating is high he usually will "act" like your friend.

alexander. he was friendly with me once for like 600 yrs, same religion, favourite civics and everything. Then on one turn he went down to pleased, canceled his defensive pact with me and atacked me.

In my games, nobody is a bigger backstabber than me. I will usually even demand tribute, then declare war on the same turn whether they pay me the tribute or not. I make peace deals just to regroup and reinvade in 10 turns. I am most likely to attack friendly or pleased relations because they are often either my neighbors or the guy in the lead.
So yup, I am the biggest backstabber in my games.

Worst backstabber in Civ......hmmmmm.......are you talking about me? ;)

As far as the AI goes though, I'd say it's Napoleon Dynamite or the Full Monty.

Counting aside the obvious aggressive leaders, the ones that often attack me "out of the blue" are Louis, Roosevelt and Catherine.

I declare peace to invade later as well, but I rarely backstab my "friends", because I'd rather get what I want from them without going through all that.

wang kon attacked me when he was on pleased terms with me, it was a late war so maybe he was just trying to prevent my domination victory, over the course of the game i had given him plenty of techs and ALWAYS accepted his demands... he was on pleased,
10 turns later he had been crushed, and was a powerful vassal ally of mine to finish off my win, lol!

He atacked me when he was on friendly. In the ancient times. I was shocked and not well prepared for war - maybe he knew

I forgot Brennus too. He's probably the strangest, because he only attacks me when our relations are GOOD.

I don't know how he is in Civ 4, but I always found Shaka Zulu to be a huge pain in Civ 3. Always broke treaties with me.

I've had that same problem with napolean. Happy, Happy, shoot, happy again.
Frustrating when I'm not quite defended on borders with happy people. And Montezuma will kill you unexpectedly in mid to later game.

Ghandi and asoka are the worst, since they are the ones i never thought to attack me...

Every time they attack, it's a total surprise....

The others, well, it can be a surprise but not that much (especially monty, nappy, GK and Alex)
