Worst Backstabber?

I find that Alexander will often stab me.

Yeah, in my last game he went from pleased to annoyed in one turn then attacked me, but he made the mistake of attacking the same turn I got mech infantry, took a colony of mine then put all of his navy there then I took the colony with one tank, and it absolutley ruined his power rating, he surrendered real quick.

Louis and Alex.
Yesterday Alex attacked me when he was friendly. He was north from my empire, and when I had to march southeast to fend off a Incan invasion it didn't take long until Greek knights were burning and pillaging my towns.

i hate togugawa not a backstabber just a really pain, never wants to trade or open borders and will never forgive u if declare war on him.

Backstabbers i cant quite remember but it always happens to me late game or bronze age, i think louis and monty especially monty

Alex has done that to me too, he declared war right after the 10 turns was up and he and monty pillaged and raised all of my cities except mecca, but just to be a pain I begged for engineering from the romans, so I had a ton of garrison 3 longbows and pikemen in a holy city with a castle and walls, I held out constantly at war with alex (you can't believe how terrible his war weariness must have been for being constantly at war for 600 years) and refused his attempts to bribe for peace, when his cities stopped producing because of the  he got overran by Rome, then I quit the game in satisfaction.

Alex is the kind of leader you'll have to keep occupied at all times. As soon as he has made peace, slip him a tech or two so that he'll attack someone else. Anyone - or he WILL turn on you!

I have found Julius Caesar is a backstabbing sum ***** lately. The French are bad and, well, Monty is a given.

I've NEVER had a problem with the Germans. They are all so friendly and nice, and usually they are way behind me.

EXCUSE ME?

have you ever heard of a man named HITLER?????

A lot of civs have backstabbed me when they are cornered and have no one else to attack easily. Especially ones who just got a UU or are aggressive. I think there must be a part to the AI that encourages aggressive behavior enough to override friendship.

There are also things that can just annoy them like declaring a different religion or having a resource they want.

Getting too powerful is a trigger to probably.

Montezuma screwed me yesterday. Although we shared borders, we maintained good relations. I refused other Civs' demands to stop trading with Montezuma even though he was the weakest faction and I could have easily lived without his support. Later on in the game he grew more powerful, in part due to my help giving him gifts. I asked my best friend at the time, Kublai Khan, to declare war on Persia because they were in the lead. As I was fighting Spain and building an army to help with Persia, Montezuma blind-sided me. I was completely unprepared with most of my forces in Spain. He beat the living **** out of me for decades until finally I appeased him by giving him the last Spanish city I had conquered, which was an excellent city.

Oh, and Montezuma captured one of my Russian cities as well. Evil!

Lol, same, you can set your watches to the Germans.... although its a tad odd really.

Fredrick always manages to give me a run for my money, probably the Organised and Philisophical traits, a good combo for science.

Monty always seems to be insanely backward.

Worst backstabber in my opion is Mansa Musa; Once i was playing as China and i was just managing to hold of the Egyptians, Ottomans and Incas at once (ty Cho-Ko-Nu). Then they delared war one me, despite being Friendly! I had NO -'s at all! I lost and i have NEVER forgotten it... Now i kill him every time.

Wow! Declaring war on you even though you are "friendly"? I've never heard of that. What level do you play on?

I had a game at the industrial era with huayna, vicky, ramses, brennus, mansa and mehmet.

I conquered huayna and brennus. Vicky, Ramses and Mansa were my friends.

Just a few turns after I and Mansa were finished with Brennus, Mehmet declared war on us!!!

He had No friends! And he hadn't enough troops to launch a single attack!! But he declared war on the two strongest Players:confused:

Just started a new game on Warlords and Montezuma declared war on me again, this time with him being across the map. I dislike him

if someone backstabs me, i just hold them off for a while and if i'm close to making nuke i just get those and NUKE THE LIVING ---- OUT OF HIM......hehehehe...then the mop-up soldiers go through and clean them up (French is the worst for me)

Prince, I cant quite reach monarch yet, i always seem to be overwelmed by Barbarians in the early stages, I play with Raging Barbarians checked.

I was playing a huge map, terra, I was at the far east of the human-populated continent, louis at the far west, and he's pleased with me. 2 turns later, I have 8 artillery, 6 riflemen, 6 SAM infantry near my westernmost city (Washington). And, magically, he's in good standing with Roosevelt as this happens. God-only-knows-how-many turns later, I'm STILL rebuilding the city. He pillaged everything. Dropped the city pop from about 16 to 6-7.

So Louis wins this one. Close second is Catherine, and Montezuma 3rd. They don't backstab if you pay them off.

1. Louis. 2. Alexander. 3. Napoleon. 4. Catherine. 5. Mansa Musa - if he falls behind in technology and lives next door to you, look out!

Montezuma is not a backstabber since he can be depended on to attack you.
