It's not that I don't see it as an imperfect tool. But I've actually recently reviewed the literature on minimum wage for class and all your anecdotes can't surmount the complete lack of good evidence that it's a net job-killer.

.... Actually, this is now just a discussion about definitions ("regressive"), which are best handled by noticing and then putting aside. I completely agree that there's good evidence that MW causes aggregate benefit when used within certain thresholds. I was using "regressive" to mean that it proportionately taxes from the first dollar rather than the last dollar

I'll save you the trouble. McConnell is "winning" followed by Gaetz, then Marjorie Taylor-Green, then Ted Cruz, then Lindsey Graham.

Those also happen to be the 5 I picked so... Go me! I win the thread, I guess... ;)

Y'all should really check out this book written by Senator Inhofe

Nah, you're wrong. The boss exploiting $1 / hour is more taxed than the boss exploiting at $25 per hour. The guy who wasn't exploiting loses his business.
The fact that you don't view it is an imperfect tool kind of ends this conversation. I've literally seen a part-time worker laid off because of a MW increase.
You must explain how US at the same time have lower average labour cost and lower employment to population ratio than several other countries.

One thing is however US minimum wage system is poorly designed, other countries tie minimum wage to inflation and automatically increase it, going from $7.25 to $15.00 is a massive jump. I suspect some politicans don't want to give away any sort of power they have, even if it would be good for the country.

I don't, though? I know that it can have a positive effect. And I've said that multiple times. America has terrible welfare incentives and extreme wealth hoarding which will also complicate earnings analysys

It's always going to be a series of causal factors

I suspect competition between business is more fierce in Europe, in US from what I have heard it sound like monopolies are more prevelant and competition is between the employees, not between the employers.

Macro dawg
labor cost=income for much of the population
income is one of the larger components of aggregate or effective demand
aggregate demand tends to determine the level of investment, and investment tends to determine the level of employment.

I voted for the following:
Lauren Boebert = The worst kind of gun nut.
Lindsey Graham = A complete weasel, his ability to lie to your face and change direction with the political wind is staggering even by politician standards.
Marjorie Green = She is just the worst. If anyone seriously doesn't know what the issue with her is, for a brief synopsis just read all her controversies on her Wikipedia page.
Marsha Blackburn = As I am the only one to vote for her, a longer explanation might be needed. Taylor Swift summarizes it well " “She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values.” She also has the worst score of any Senator on civil rights issues.
Ted Cruz = Even by his standards he has been bad this year. Giving credence to the baseless conspiracy theories by filing objections to the certification of Joe Biden's victory, and abandoning his own state at their time of greatest need.

Though I'm starting to think I should have voted for Inhofe over Boebert, but I'm sticking to my original picks!

You don't need to be fully informed to vote, its all pretty subjective anyway.
Plus if people were fully informed when it comes to politics we might have a few more green supporters and a few less Republicans! ;)

You'd think that, wouldn't you?
