Would you date an opposite sex clone of yourself?

It would not be a clone at all. A clone is identical genetically. The differences between man and woman, both genetically, and then psychologically and mentally due to sexual roles and organs, are too massive.
A far more logical question would be the one mentioned by another poster, about dating an unknown sibling.

It's impossible to have an opposite sex clone of yourself. By definition a clone has the exact genetic blueprint as you. This includes X and Y chromosomes (or 2 X chromosomes as the case may be). That means the clone WILL be the same sex as you. Now if you genetically engineer the clone his/her sex can be changed, but as some genes are now different then technically it is no longer a clone, just a person who's very similar genetically with you.

As for personality, there is no guarantee that the clone will be a exact copy of you. His/her upbringing and life experiences will be different from you. And so a female clone of me might actually turn out to be rather lively and fun, and not a computer game addict.

Would I date this then? If the tweaking produced a hot woman sure why not? If she turns out looking like my avatar I'd even marry her. :D

Realistically, however, this is not likely. A clone of me produced now will be a baby. And I will need to wait nearly 20 years. No way she'd even take a look at me by then. :(

I'm somewhat skeptical that a clone of me could be very distinctly feminine without enough genetic tampering to make the use of the word "clone" suspect, but I wouldn't have any ethical problem with dating one. Now, wether I'd be attracted to her, I don't know.

What he said. Yeah, I would, if she was attractive.

This isn't entirely true. By the application of the right hormones in the womb, an XY embryo can be made to develop into a woman. A rather masculine-looking woman, chances are.

It's unlikely, BTW, that a female clone of a guy would reach the same height, as she'd have much less testosterone cruising about in her body during puberty. This is just as good, I suppose, since a woman my height (187cm) would probably wish she were shorter.

Incest. Definately I wouldn't date her. That would be stooping to a new low if I was that desperate.

The clone would be exactally like you, though not with the same exact life expriences (you could program in similar memories I suppose) except a female version of you (or male if you're female or gay).

Your clone would be of the same height and similar weight to you but would be most definitely of the opposite sex (very distanctly feminine or masculine) and as attractive as you are.

So, would you go for it?
 I wouldn't be able to put up with myself! Besides I'd have to be wearing beer goggles. Poor chick.

Well, as per the genetics, if one was male one could simply remove the Y chromosome and replace it with another copy of the X.

Of course, (assuming that we got it in early enough), that leads to problems with recessive genes.

I wouldn't date an opposite clone of myself. By the time that she grew from a cute little baby to a hot little babe, I'd think of her more as a daughter than anything.

Hell, yeah! She would be yummy, we'd be into all the same kinky things! Only ny relationship beyond sex would suck because you'd soon get bored of talking to yourself.

ABSOLUTELY NOT perhaps... :crazyeye:

But it would ONLY have to be in a situation in which a female version of myself would have come from an alternative universe much like that Red Dwarf episode.

I bet my female version would be quite pretty.

How would it be a clone of you if it was the opposite sex? The only thing that would differ between clones is personality, I think. I would say no, if it were possible.

I do however believe that Perfections idea would work, however, with the change of the chromosome, would the body not reject the altered set of cells as a foreign body? Though it is the same body, you could probably extract the X from another cell, and replace the Y with the extracted X chromosome. Then you could grow it naturally with a surrogate.

Taking narzissism to a whole new level, eh?

No, it would just be creepy.
Narz has nothing to do with narcissism though if I had sex with my clone I suppose you could rightly say that I'm "full of myself". :rotfl:

I can't believe you guys!!! I would definitely date this smolderingly sexy, devastatingly fascinating hot chick. Anyway, it's clone - you don't need to call it back, or open all the doors. They simply don't have feelings right? ;)
They have the same feelings (or lack thereof) as you.

And everyone's acting squeamish here but if a moderately attractive, geeky girl in laungera taped them on the shoulder as they browsed this forum and asked if they'd like some mind-blowing sex followed by some computer games I doubt most would say no. :D
