Well, both can be cured by, modern science with bionic implants, so I honestly don't care, although I'd choose deaf for the less inconvienice.

Deaf. I gotta be able to drive and use a computer to play games. Also, I want to be able to see the woman I love. I want to be able to watch us grow old together.

What would really be terrible is to be one of the prisoners who are in charge. If they weren't prisoners, they too should have been executed.
