Wow....plus SMAC mod reborn!

Bleh just download SMAniaC and check out modtechtree.jpg in the documentation folder.

Is there any way you can attach an attachment you already attached somewhere else to another post? When I try to reattach the same file, it says the attachment already exists. :bored:

I'd just like to put out there that personally I think the idea of building a chassis and being able to apply stuff to it is really cool. If you could implement it well it would go a long way to capturing the flavor of SMAC and setting this mod apart from other Civ4 mods.

That would be because you a member of the forum that everyone else is closed to.

I've highlighted the big word. It's very simple to implement, and the majority of what is needed is right now in place, but it needs testing to see if it's, well, to put it this way: "annoying or not".

There really hasn't been a way that we seem to like to allow for add-ons to the chassis to be applied prior to building the unit (such as the smac workshop), so we're now looking into having the unit be popped out, and then applying abilities later on. For example, you pop out the unit, and while it's still in the base (or, later on after returning to the base), the unit can choose between one of the weapons or armors that is available to it. These add-ons or abilities can either cost gold, hammers (the installation is added to the city's queue), or both.

I find this sentence very insulting, you will better think before posting. I've done nothing but try AFTER Yakk attempt and it worked for me. I've NOTHING to do with this problem !

snipperr, Yakk's right.

Maniac accidentally linked to an attachment on a post in the SMAC forum. That forum is on CivFanatics, but only those who are members of it can see it. Thus, while you, Maniac, and the few others could follow the link, those who aren't a member of that forum could not.

So, perhaps you will think better before posting as well :P

OK ! I didn't understand. I feel very embarassed now

It shows that I've missed that in the forum ! Quite unusual for me !

Sorry Gunner, your sentence make sense now for me ! I apologizes for this mistake.

EDIT : crossposted ! It's me who made the mistake and, because I misread your previous post and the fact I missed Maniac attachment, my impulsiveness lead me wrong !

Wow, I'm terribly sorry you took it that way. I really meant absolutely no hostility at all, and I don't see the entire episode even as a problem. I was just trying to tell you why you could see it.

Please accept my sincerest apologies for whatever insult you may have thought you received

If you want to attach the same picture, try renaming it. If that doesn't work just make one minor change in the image and post that with the modified name.

Renaming works, but I kinda wonder, if you can't reuse attachments in other posts, what's the advantage then of having an attachments list in "My Account"?

Any possibility of the chassis design changing over time, or perhaps by era...? Found this one of the more visually boring aspects of the game... and (as I've said before) relying only on the current weapon/armor technology level to determine stats is a bit limiting. Think of the variety of stats available to different units in, say, the gunpowder era of Civ... even among units that would have the same "chassis"

Are you guys going to be doing the Artifact hooking up with the Network Node for a free tech thing? Are you also going to be making Monoliths and how are you going to be implementing them?

I guess they could give free xp or a free promotion. The latter would make it much more interesting I reckon :) - especially if they were special powerful promotions that could only be received from the Monoliths. Maybe the Artifacts could be do the same thing: give access to advanced alien techs that cannot ordinarily be researched.

No link yet Major, but we should do a better job of posting updates. Maybe when we have more to post we will. We are making great strides though. ;)

SMAX factions are indeed making an appearance.

@ Watiggi - although not discussed yet (unless I missed that thread Rubin!!!) I'm sure they will be there.

I could post an image to a SMAX prototype base, but I don't have those pics at home. :hide:
