Wow,That Can't Be Good...part DEUX

I love that look of panic on Mansa's face.

In an odd case of the real-world paralleling this thread, I come in to do my daily read at CFC about Civ4-BTS, and am greeted with:

"Hello LDG, it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks. Why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution, or participate in a discussion in any one of our forums?"

That can't be good!

I got my neighbor Monty blocked, and the relations aren't very good (feels like he's gonna undercut me at any second).

As soon as I realized where his capital was I knew...

That can't be good...

Spent the whole game up to modern era without going to war, ranked 3rd in score. Relations with civ next to me are a bit icy but he's too weak to pick on me so I don't worry. Catherine is ranked first and she hates me, but she's on another continent so I don't care.

Catherine declares war, I am pretty sure I can throw any amphibious assault back into the sea so I carry on as if nothing has changed.

3 turns later 5 huge stacks of catherine's atillery and cossaks roll in... from the territory of the civ next to me!

I have a closer look and every 3rd tile in his terrotory has a huge stack of catherines troops on it.

She's not on another continent! Theres a narrow isthmus connecting her and him, and she is sending seemingly everything she has through. He wont end his open borders with her, because I was arrogant and didnt bother trying to play nice with him...

i was about to finish my pyramid on a city, who only have 1 unit which is warrior, then out of nowhere, 10 to 15 barbarians popped in my view near my pyramid city 2 turns away, and the nearest city with reinforcement are 4 to 5 turns away. that can't be good

i restarted the game from previous save then, built a lot of defensive forces on that same city, and waited for those barbarians, only to find them stacking on another city, with few defenders, again, reinforements are 4 to 5 tiles away. i suck in this game, maybe i should be demoted to simcity mayor

the turn you are about to slave rush your first settler in the capital, your slaves revolts and a huge stack of shaka's unit impi appear near your border.

That can't be good

I just started a new game last night as the Native Americans. I got the Vedic barbarian random event, and thought, "Wow, this can't be good."

My exploring warrior had gotten experience from a hut, and I had promoted him to Woodsman II for exploring speed, so I moved him onto a wooded hill to see if I could see them, or at least slow them down as they killed him. It turns out I moved him right next to the archers, who by some miracle, went the opposite direction instead of attacking him. I promptly renamed him Bear Face because he is so scary.

Six turns later I got the message, "The Celtic civilization has been destroyed." Poor Brennus, I never even got to meet him.

Working on my new strat for HRE, starting with stone and building Stonehenge, GW and Pyramids, all from two cities. Not a single unit guarding my cities. One scout sitting on a hill resting near Boudicas border, who is my closest neighbour. 4 celtic warriors move out.

That can't be good!

I'm not sure that a strategy involving leaving your cities undefended while you build wonders is a great strategy...

It all boils down to timing. In that game I obviously failed, underestimating how early she would really attack. :p I did get it right later.

On a lark I added my own name to the list of great generals. Next game I played I saw that a great general (Lindy) was born in a far off land. Turned out to be Russia (Stalin). then later in the game I saw a stack of Cossacks with a GG standard on their flag pole approach my boarders! I whiped my own @$$! OW! OW! OW! That was not good.

I'm in a mid game war with Toka. He brings in Mansa my next closest neighbor and Jano who is the closest Civ on the next continent. I get a Deal Canceled Fish for Clams(Hathesh) Message. That's not good. I see a super stack of Egyptian forces on unload by my coastal city near Tok's border. Not good. I hear the war horn. Not good. I'm sure you can guess the rest.

Playing a unrestricted leaders game and being greeted by your neighbor Shaka of Vikings!
That made for a long game. Thank the maker I got the Temple of Zeus before he did.

I have a worse one.

Monty of the Romans. With iron in bfc.

That can't be good.

After fighting a defensive war with Shaka, where I manage to take one of his cities and build the Temple of Zeus in his old city, an AP vote comes up to return the city to him. I defy and everyone hates me (including my own people :(). Now THAT can't be good.

I've got an early save waiting for me to go back to it. I'm Hannibal. Fractal, Standard map, temperate, medium, random AI leaders. Send the scout out to meet the neighbors and discover this. I'm smack dab in the middle of the continent.

Dear, sweet, Izzy is to my south 5-6 tiles. Tokugawa is 8-9 tiles east. Shaka is camped in my back yard and the kicker, Monty is 5-6 tiles due west.

That can't be good.
