WW2-Europe XXL

vlad: congratulations on your victory... nice game...
I will change the victory condition to 45% territory and 60 % population.... thx a lot for your comment, I hadn't realized as I never played it that long....( I usually stop after beating the soviets...)

ok, who's in for a MP game in E-Mail mode, I'll take the Commonwealth, so I'll need an Third Reich player.... Having another human controlling the soviets and US might make it to hard for the Germans, so that player will have to decide...

about the ptw units

i download them and all i got is a rar file, (was it suposed to have anything else?)
There's nothing in ptw/extras about ww2 units and the game reports a missing file of russian rifleman so what should i do?

if you don't have a winrar, there is also a link to the units as zip files as they have been posted in the units forum by Loulong on the first page of this thread....
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69446
download all these units, place them in the folder as described in the readme.txt and also copy the units from the Conquest WW2pacifiq folder.

The Message about the missing .ini file is because you don't have the units yet.

aeldrik, here's how to change the Germans to black. Adds that little bit 'extra to the mod. :-)

ok, I understand what you mean (there is no black, what you are suggesting is the dark grey Civ color)...
I will try it, if I like it, I'll keep it... black somehow sounded really good, but it's not available...

hi aeldrik!
ive been playing the scenario for a while and it is really great!
Though, one terrible thing is the loading time. i mean, loading up the scenario is one thing. i can live with that but the loading time in the game, between the turns is just terrible. it sort of takes away the fun, waiting more than playing. and my computer is really not a bad one, its relatively new.

im no civ editor so i dont know whats possible but if you ought to change something i suggest making this number one on the list

Hy Nachos,....what you're talking about is one of the things that also gets me very mad... but I'm not the one who could fix... only Firaxis could, and seen from the very little they have managed to bring us in patches up to know... it sure isn't going to happen tomorrow....

If you look at all the scenarios available, every big/good scenario has the same problem (as one can already start to notice on the WW2 scenario from Firaxis). The problem is the code for CIV3 uses exponential functions, meaning the more cities you use, the longer it takes square.... they just gave us a very crappy code!!!

The Version of the scenario that is now available is already the second version, as the first one was based on an even larger map, but had just awfull times between turns (it was a great map, 512 cities and a lot missing....). I already changed to a smaller map as it is now to make it better... removing even more cities would just make it to unrealistic.. it already hurts me to see my bith country belgium represented by so few cities....

I hope this answers your question....

aeldrik, you are right with respect to the "crappy" code. Although patch 1.20 won't introduce too many new features, I still hope that Jesse's proposal to go on tweaking (and to see what is possible) after the release will have more effect!
Btw, I really enjoy reading all your started threads on what they should improve. ;)

CellKu: thx for the support... I just sometimes feel kind of depressed seeing that as soon as the "Gods" from Firaxis release a patch correcting a typo in the civilopedia, a lot of people go clapping their hands in amazement... I just think we should get a good working game for the money we paid (in my case, for all 3, about 120 EUR=144USD...). People should complain a lot more about all the bugs and the missing things, then maybe we'd get something better, but as long as they go on defending Firaxis, not a lot will happen---
I guess I sometimes tend to repeat myself, but I'm sure it's the only way for these guys to someday get the message....

Have you already started the PBEM-game? You didn't announce the start. So I assume you are still looking for players. I would like to join! I have one problem, though: I have to play it on my laptop, because I won't be at home during the coming weeks. And my laptop is rather slow. Thus, I would have to go for one of the smaller civs. Would that be possible? I tried playing as one of the major civs during the weekend and that was undoable!
Btw, so far I have only played hotseat MP. Is there anything important (and new!) that I have to think of when playing PBEM?

I'll take the soviets but it might take me a week or more to reply between turns, if thats acceptable then count me in.

last time i started the game you could only play as GB, Sovjet, France, and perhaps America. Perhaps im out of style... Is there another update or am i half blind?

@Nachos: you only heave to go into the Editor and set Italy as a human player... it is not in the download version, but it's a minor change you can make (takes 30 seconds...) I didn't put it in the main version as Italy is not the most interesting to play... and most people choose one of the big 4 powers
