WW2 Global Gold

sharedscars, welcome at CFC :band:[party] and thank you for your interest in SOE. :)

There is no authorized place to download the last version of SOE and in a post in the SOE thread I wrote why this is the case. The work on the next version of SOE is continuing and today I will post in the SOE thread some new screenshots about it.

Thanks Civinator. I had an old account here but lost my credentials - anyway thanks for the warm welcome hehehe.

Well, I've been following this project for so many years now and hopefully it will come out soon. Anyway, if you know of a way I can get the last version, please send me a PM.

Thanks again for all your work!

where can i download this
darklordshadow, thank you very much for your interest in WW2 Global Gold. The SOC site that hosted that scenario, was closed long ago. A new version of WW2 Global Gold is connected to the next version of CCM - and that version is connected with the Flintlock mod and its cornucopia of new options in modding Civ 3.

The next version of CCM is close to its release. Than come in my priority line the RARR mod, SOE, WW2 Global Gold and may be a connected version of AOI. The work for the new version of WW2 Global Gold was far in its progress, before the Flintlock mod appeared - but the Flintlock mod changed the world in modding C3C. The connection of these mods and scenarios is due to the fact that in most of these mods and scenarios the units mostly are the same and therefore only one download is needed to be hosted for covering most parts of all these mods and scenarios. This is still realized with CCM 2.5 and RARR, where RARR only needs a minimal separate download file of 13 MB (mostly to cover the different techtree graphics) instead of the more than 1 GB download file that it needed before.

So for downloading WW2 Global Gold you unfortunately still have to wait.

The day the stars align and this scenario is available to us once more....man I will celebrate to the high heavens. So many Civ games have released over the years, yet I still always find myself coming back to Civ3. And every time I do, I always wonder if there is that faint glint of hope for this scenario to be ready.

I wish I had made backups of my old computer back in the day. When that computer failed, I lost those files. Nothing has really scratched the same itch as WW2GG. What I wouldn't give for a torrent of it or something, lol. Either way, here's to hoping some day soon.

I reflected, what I can do to help here immediately as far as possible. :)

Fortunately CCM 3 is ready since some time and carries all units and most graphics that are also needed for SOE. As WW2 Global Gold was linked to the SOE graphics, it is possible to link it now to CCM 3. So I can post here a version of WW2 Global Gold combined with the SOE techtree and many updated or completely new unit graphics.

On the other side many new unit graphics, that are existing in CCM3 are not yet integrated in the splitted up old combination unit classes of WW2 Global (per example the Spanish CA Canarias is existing in CCM3 but in WW2 Global Gold it is still shown by the old common CA unit and the same for many submarines and destroyers in WW2 Global Gold). The new civilopedia entries in many cases are still missing yet. There was simply not the time for me to do them until now, so they are existing in big parts in the CCM3 civilopedia. The same for setting up Russia and its territory and units for WW2 Global Gold in the same way as I did it in SOE to force Russia into war with Germany at the proper time in the game.

So what I can offer today, is a download of an early beta of the next version of WW2 Global Gold (that includes in theory the old WW2 Global Gold). At least in a first test of that combination of CCM3 and WW2 Global Gold I had no crashes. If you run into crashes please report them here, so they can be fixed if possible.

Here I show as an "appetizer" one of the smallest new graphics of WW2 Global Gold and SOE, the new barracks icon for my WW2 scenarios:

Installation:

1. For the installation you need to download and install CCM3 into the C3C scenarios folder, as nearly all graphics come from that mod. CCM 3 can be found here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/ccm3-epic-mod.690497/
If you still have installed CCM 3 in your C3C scenarios folder, this is enough and you don´t have to download it again for playing the attached version of WW2 Global Gold.

2. Download and unzip the small WW2 Global Gold file, that is attached to this post, into the C3C scenarios folder and take care, that the WW2 Global Gold biq is outside the WW2 Global Gold folder.

3. If you have the steam version of Civ 3 Complete, you have to change the labels text file inside the text folder of WW2 Global Gold by renaming the file labels to labels 1 (or something like that) and by renaming the labels steampatch file to labels, otherwise steam will play havoc with the texts of WW2 Global Gold.

4. The installation of the C3X mod is not needed, but recommended, as this mod cures the hyperlink bug and allows the offensive use of land artillery by the AI. The C3X mod can be found here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/c3x.28759/

And please honor Rocoteh and Meateater, the fathers of this great scenario, when playing WW2 Global Gold.

I would just like to start by thanking you PROFUSELY. This is incredible and I could not be more ecstatic to see this! My birthday is coming up in 8 days, and you've inadvertently given me the best gift I could have imagined. Thank you so much for all your hard work, and to the many other great community members we have here! I'm practically beaming I'm so excited.

Your generosity proves that this community is the best there is; you're all incredible. I'm exceedingly grateful that there are still such talented folk here supporting what I consider to be one of the greatest strategy games ever made. You've made this old soul giddy as a schoolgirl. Keep up the fantastic work, and know I'll always be rooting for you!
