oljb007,

During the day I have been working with joint project WW3-Global.

I will be back with more details as I have done more work on the

Wow! That is crazy...what are the load times in between turns...I have a 2.67Ghz and 768 RAM so it might be a little quicker then the quoted rates above, but still... Wow! Looks great though! I am def. going to give it a run! I am just impatient! I gave it like 5 minutes and then I started looking for something that I did wrong!

Just to ask again...how quickly does the gameplay go once initialized?

bobmcclune,

15-20 minutes between turns I guess. Can be faster though.

I do plan on sticking with the conscript infantry for armies, since the AI doesn't use them correctly. However, my no drafting rule might get thrown away as time goes on if the AI is making too hard of a push.

As for the special AI edition, it sounds VERY interesting.

allin1joe,

Yes hopefully it should make the scenario more interesting.

I have an AMD Athlon 2.0 with 1.5GB of RAM. It takes about 10-15 minutes for the computer to make it's moves, then another 5-10 for it to get it's build orders in. Turn times vary by how many cities are taken/wars are declared. It takes a couple of minutes for the computer to re-figure the trade routes.

its well worth the wait times.

After the computer makes its moves I start doing chores or errands around the house, laundry, picking up, etc etc and just stop by to see if its prompted me for any build orders! :)

Yeah, I was thinking about getting a new computer. But, if I did, I'd never get anything done around the house :)

vlad1917_a,

It seems to be impossible to stop city-razing 100%.

It will be interesting to see if Firaxis will include a "never raze option"
in CIV 4.

They are not rise the city. Their weak planes bomb the city and during the bombing they destroy single building and it was wonder.

Report #2 on Britain SID Version 1.7

The screen shot below summarizes the simultaneous attacks on British positions in the Middle East, Persia, and Afghanistan by the combined forces of Germany, Italy and the USSR over the last several (7 or 8 ) weeks. (The US had declared war on the USSR and sucked Britain in.) Note that Germany, Italy, and Russia wer attacking at the same time, which made it very interesting to say the least.

These were large enemy forces. Germany had over 30 Pz IIIg's, plus SS Divisions, ME-109's and a few infantry divisions which captured Damascus and then pushed for Tabriz, Tehran, and Baghdad. I was able to channel them that way bt destroying the roads leading southwest from Damascus. At the time it looked like I could not stop the German attack and decided that losing Persia was preferable to letting the Germans into Africa. Plus the choke point at Suez was easier to defend.

Just after Germany had captured Naghdad the US declareed war against the USSR and dragged Britain in. The USSR had a large army of 21 Marine divisions in the Southern Caucasus and Eastern Turkey which then joined in the German attack on Tabriz.

Simulataneously a large Italian army of 28 divisions/regimants, flak, and 6 Corps artillery came out of Russia to attack Kabul. And a USSR army of 15+ parachute divisions attacked Meshed (Iran) and another force of parachute diivsions got in line to attack Kabul and outflank it by moving into the Hindu Kush.

Britain has so far barely been able to hold on and defreat all the attacks by a stubborn defense. Luckily the rail line to India and Eastern Africa had been completed, which helped in the movement of reinforcements, The British Mediterranean fleet has beeen steadily bombarding Damascus and aslo cut the rail line from Europe at the Dardanelles and Bosporus, which slowed, but did not stop, German reinforcements. All bombers and much of the fighter force from the British Isles was need to turn back the attacks. Skua bombers were also helpful. The BEF which I had withdrawn from France and sent by convoy managed to evade attacks by the Italian navy and arrived at Suez in the nick of time.

The French were able to help by sending a steady trickle of Somua tanks from North Africa.

The situation stabilized last turn when I was able to make peace with Russia. Also last turn I was finally able to start building Matildas - a major boost the defense and the first time Britain will have any real offensive power on land.

However, Japan has bypassed my weakly held cities in Burma and invaded India with an anrmy of 14 SNLF divisions (second screen shot).

In the Pacific, Port Morseby is heavily garrisoned and holding out well against Japanese land attacks from Sarmi and occasional amphibious invasions.

Hong Kong is holding on barely, buit will probably lose it in the the next turn or two. Singapore still stands. Australia is still weak, since most forces there went to the defense of Port Moresby. Just sighted the first Yamato. British naval forces in the Pacific are very weak.

Canada and southern Africa have been doing nothing but building their economies. Italian forces from the horn of Africa contiue harrassment attacks on the line of ciommunication between the Nile valley and southern Africa.

But so far, Britain has lost no cities, which is better than I had expected.

I captured Lisbon, and then gave it to the US in hopes they will land troops there, but nothing so far.

The US fleet has returned from its Arctic expedition and has moved into the western mediterranean.

In Europe, Germany has captured and razed Paris and Brest and has captured Lyon. Amsterdam was razed earlier. Germany is building Bismarks, DDF's VII and IX's and continues to try to gain access to the Atlantic through the Channel and the North Sea.

In earlier fights with Russia, Germany has captured Odessa, Kiev, Kursk, Vilnius, and Talinn. Will have to see howe it does now that what must be a major chunk of its panzer forces have been defeated in the middle east.

This has been a very exciting game so far, with no guarantee of a British win.

I can not start 1.7, the game hang on the configuring scenario. Soviet, monarch level.

well, its happend again.... here i was romping through french north affrica, after starting an invasion from gibralter taking casablanca etc etc.... and some Russian subs "crashed" into one of my invis subs, starting another war im ill prepared for...

"lucky" when some T34's stole some workers, the game crashed.......lol

S3d, how long did you wait? loading takes anywhere from 30minutes to an hour

Grizx,

Thank you for the report and screenshots.
They give a very good picture of how the scenario evolves.

I think this the first time Germany-AI have been able to capture
5 cities in Soviet.

Still its a problem that AI prefers to attack Turkey instead of a main
attack in Russia.

I will see if I can do anything in future versions to change this.
Really looking forward to follow this very interesting playtest.

Thank you and welcome back.

Rocoteh,

Thank you for the excellent, very detailed scenario. I've been playtesting v1.6 at Monarch as Germany and had three early comments

1. The economic impact on England of the submarine war does not seem to be captured. The U Baots are good at killing destroyers and vice versa, but I do not get the impression that the hurt Englands productivity. Maybe it will be more evident when the US starts send troops and the U Boats can hit the transports, but for now, I do not see much effect. Maybe transports could carry "treasure" from North America to the UK something like the Age of Exploration scenario in conquests.

2. Benito's Italians run around like the Keystone Cops. In to Russia, out of Russia, into Yugoslavia, out of Yugoslavia. They don't start wars with people I don't want to go to war with yet, but they don't seem to be doing anything. Also, I cannot collocate with them or use their cities. I had to land on the beach at El Almein instead of unloading in Tobruck like a civilized Axis partner.

3. A trifling map nitpick. In West Africa between Accra and Kumasi you show Lake Volta. It's a lovely lake, about an hour's drive from my office here in Accra. But it wasn't created until the construction of the Akosombo Dam in the early 60's. During WW2, it was just a stretch of the Volta River.

Great scenario. These are minor points.
