Bart S.

I wish I could help you to solve the problem you describe
but I have never heard about it before.

I interprete no "reactions" on WW2-Global Germany versus AI meaning
this special version not delivered what players did expected.

I did this special version since some players wanted more challenge.
However it was a mistake. A "special AI version" probably
creates expectations that is unrealistic within the current game-engine.
Thus I will abstain from special versions in the future.

Next version of WW2-Global will be Multiplayer 1.1.

Target date for version 1.9: June 20.

1st -- Welcome back.
2nd -- I noticed that no one posted here when you said you were going to be gone for 5 days with no access to a computer. It's quite possible that people have been playing, but not posting because of this fact. I'd suggest giving it a day or so before making your final decision.

As for me, I'm still playing my German game from the previous release (I've lost track of the release numbers :)). I drove south to the Suez canal, took all of Turkey except for Izmir (thanks to the Italians getting peace with my army on their door step), and have driven East of Moscow (the Italians also got peace with the Soviets right after I took Moscow, but the Russians kept sending troops into my territory, and I kept ordering them out, so they eventually re-declared). The Japanese have cut a line straight through India razing the 2 western most cities in the process. They have all of SE Asia with the exception of the mountain cities. I'm trying to drive as hard as possible Eastward so I can take that territory before the Japanese do. Then, I'll turn my attention to Britian before moving to Africa. I am already starting to build transports in preperation for this.

allin1joe,

Thank you.

Its possible my absence have had some impact on posting.
No reaction is seldom a good sign though.

On the many versions: As mentioned earlier target date for
version 1.9 is June 20. Thus in the future regular versions will
be released with longer intervals.

It seems that you have got a good start for your playtest.
Looking forward to more reports.

Thank you and welcome back.

I did give the AI version a little try but was having some bad luck in spy missions so I suspended the game.

Let me give you some observations @ Emperor level -

I took Poland which was a little more complicated since I had to eliminate all units because of Halifax. Also took Copenhage, Brussels and Amsterdam by end of 1939.

France sending stacks of infantry which I dealt with by strongly reinforcing border cities and luring them further into territory where I could deal with them without worrying about large fighter defense. I was hesistant to attack directly without some info on how many units I was killing vs production (therefore need for spy missions).

Naval warfare unchanged since there were no changes from 1.8. I kept most of the fleet at home and my Uboats and Sboats did a lot of damage.

Given uncertainties of actual French and Russian strength I took on Sweden which was no problem - actually split the cities with Finland.

I saw nothing out of the ordinary in the Pacific, Asia or Africa. Key issue is that the game changes with time presumably on your side vs the AI because your production will eventually overcome the AI early starting position for France. Bigger issue is Russia because my strategy has always been to take Poland and keep going West - take on Russia before tech and production grows at the same time gaining lebensraum.

French AI obviously more agressive and needs more units to contain them making me perhaps too cautious to take on the Russians.

All in all more of a challenge but somehow I decided to go to a German 1.8 game to learn a little more about the basics since I had not played 1.8 as Germany. After I complete the game I will probably return and restart AI game.

Glad to see you back Rocotech. I believe you should wait for bit longer before making your desicion about AI-versions. In my game I'm only at the turn 10 or so, but I've some suggestions to do in next version, if there will be such thing.

1. Make Danzigs culture bigger than warsaws, otherwise Danzig can be taken with infantry at the first turn
2. Make Germans draft security divisions, otherwise it's too easy for humanplayer to replace it's inf. losses.
3. Thing about chancing some of those french inf. to garrisons and special fortresses. In my game french are sendin SoD's of 50+ french infantry, and It's not wery realistic that french would have made such offencives in real war. They are now getting themselves killed and just helping player.
4. Think about removing the British airfield in France. In my game British sent all their planes there and protected the field with only couple inf. division, and i was able to destroy whole RAF with just one attack.

Well I'll post more when something up. Personally I like this AI-version more than the original, on sid level there is some challenge in the game :D

Rocoteh: Welcome back.

I believe, at least a lot of the post secondary students in North America, have exams going on currently which maybe one of the reasons why there have not been many posts. This is just my guess cause I don't know how many people posting here are currently in colleges, at least I am. Another reason as previously stated could be related to your absence. Many may have thought of giving a complete summary of however far they have gone on your comeback. I don't think you should take it as lack of interest. Perhaps just a temporary breakage in feedbacks.

I haven't gone very far in my German AI game due to exams, so there's not much to report. As I previously said, I am going to play out the phoney war with France as it was in history (another reason for this is that I don't have enough tanks to take on France at the moment. France sent in stacks of infantry into my territory; I let them move in deeper where I was able to destroy all their units. Perhaps changing the infantry to garrisons as andis-1 suggested would be a better idea (will make the first few turns a bit faster too). The unhistorical wars (at least with Turkey) have returned again. I abstained from attacking Turkey because Hitler never attacked it (only going to attack countries that Germany attacked in the war). The US sent a few heavy cruisers into the english channel (7 I think); they have all been dealt with. This is about all that has happened. My will not be posting too much in the summer as I am moving out of town and I will have limited access to the internet. I might be able to put in a few in between (don't take it as lack of interest + my girlfriend hates to see me play comp games and ignore her :) ). In any case, all you guys have a great summer and stay safe. Talk to ya for sure in the fall.

andis-1,

Thank you for the report.

Notes have been taken on suggested changes.
With regard to the French infantry divisions I think that problem
can be changed by setting AI to defend on these units at start.

I will probably remove the British airfield due to what you mention here.

Welcome back

Bob1475,

Thank you for the report.

Looking forward to more reports from the new playtest.

eaglefox,

Thank you for the report and comments.

Yes, number of posts May-July in most threads are downwards.

I will be away again April 29-May 8. I hope there will be playtest-reports
and comments in the thread during this time even if I will be off-line.
I read all posts when I am home again.

Thank you and welcome back.
