This is Elliot Anderson with the Columbia Broadcast System; We interrupt our regularly scheduled program of dance music from the Waldorf Astoria ballroom with Benny Goodman and his orchestra to bring you just breaking news from out correspondent in London Edward R Murrow....
*HISS*POP**SQUEEEELLLL*HISS*(sounds of air raid sirens wailing in the background sporadically interrupted by the near by concussions of multiple explosions)*POP*
This is London on this 28th week of 1940; I speak to you tonight from a city on the edge of the abyss.
Last night the Luftwaffe dropped paratroopers along with their bombs, surrounding London on three sides while destroying the road and rail routes on the fourth.
This morning in the pre-dawn mist the long slumbering Kriegsmarine struck with a fury! Waves of aircraft from the German carrier Zeppelin attacked the berthed ships of the mighty Royal navy. Hood, Rodney, Repulse, Warspite, Barham mighty dreadnoughts all, lay ablaze on the bottom of the Thames along with 5 or more cruisers.
The sounds you hear in the background Mr and Mrs America are the cries of a city in its' death throws. The German battleships Bismarck, Scharnhorst, Gneisenau along with the Pocket Battleship Deutchland and three heavy cruisers lie comfortably in the middle of the Thames shelling at will the city of London.
I must end my report here as my producer has just been told by one of the few survivors of the household cavalry that the German panzers and marines have entered the city and the Royal army will only be able to hold the airport long enough for the royal family to escape.
London has fallen.
We are trapped along with the population of London, all of us holding our collective breaths for what is to happen next....
And the answer to that one kind readers is a MASSIVE aerial counter attack by the Royal Airforce that bombed the 14 sized London down to a population of 1. While not touching a single one of the German units entrenched IN London.

On paris I realised early on that the germans were going to get almost all france before my armies were ready to attack. As italy at that point desperately needed frances production I had to slow the germans down. I declared war on the soviets and just waited for them to send a lone unit through axis territory to attack me in the alps. That was the last fighting italy did in that war as the axis leapt to my defence and the wehrmacht was sent east giving france a reprieve. In very early war germany tends to perform quite well against the soviets even if it is still fighting a two front war. Italy can afford to play her ally and protector off against russia in early game with no real risk of a collapse.
By the time the war hed ended my army was much stronger and was able to beat the germans to paris. I could have taken brest as well but at that stage didnt want the drain of defending it from the R.A.F. and royal navy.

Week 45 1940.
It is five weeks now since the Empire of Japan declared war upon Soviet Russia, an event that was met with jubilation in England as it was thought that the Germans would have to withdraw forces from their rampage in Britain to defend the fatherland.
But that was five weeks ago. In that time Plymouth, Birmingham, Leicester and Liverpool have fallen. The British put up a heroic stand at Cardiff with the Royal armored corps and Marines playing noted and distinguished places along side the brave airmen of the RAF, but that city as well fell with the loss of over 30 squadrons of aircraft, leaving Northern Britain essentially without air defense.
Overseas Rommel's Afrika Korps has taken Suez and continues to hold it against all counter attacks from Cairo and Alexandria.
But what of the Russians?
There was great hope that the massive Soviet army would smash the Eastern frontier of the German state as the Germans were outnumbered. But the initial Soviet offensive stalled, ground to a halt and then began flowing backwards under the force of the German counter attack. Odessa, Brest-Litovsk, Lwow, and Petujula all lie within German control as their forces march onward toward Kiev and points East.

Week 2 1940 through Week 52 1940: The Blitzkrieg continues. The Nazis take Verdun and The Italians take Toulouse using my now rebuilt offensive units in Week 2. The Panzers overcome the Fortress of Strasburg which finally surrenders the following week. After a combined Axis attack the third and fourth week of 1940 Il Duce leads the combined Armies into Lyon. The French
are in full flight - They move all the units they can from their other cities to defend Paris; to no avail. Paris is declared an open city and the little corporal dances a jig on Week 6 under the Arc de Triumphe.
Meanwhile in Africa; my forces take Suez the week before we enter Lyon, and Cairo two days before the Germans enter Paris!
More Naval Victories in the East. The navy sinks the two USN BBs and 16 DDs on Week 2, and then the usual Naval attrition with DDs and SSs continue while my new construction continues!
THE WAR IS OVER!!!??
After the 10th Week Germany did nothing but fly 2 to 10 Bombers or Fighters againest London. They ended the year with about 1000 units including 334
88's and a plethora of defensive units. The test has been basically a failure. The increase of money alone does not seem to encourage the AI to continue to assault or declare war on the other neighbors. I refused to declare war on any other than Yugoslavia and Greece to see the results. I have extended the Italian borders as far as I can and my lack of technology and overstretched supply lines will prevent me from doing anything except going on the defensive unless Germany acts now. I have conquered all of North Africa including Casablanca; all of the Mediterranean except Spain and Turkey; all of East Africa north of the Portuguese Colonies; The entire Sahara; and with tremendous battles have conquered the middle east including the entire cradle of civilization.
My next adjustment to Germany 2.4vanilla is: 1) the money from this trial plus 2) 88s and security divisions on autoproduce (1 per week) 3) Pziiie upgrading to pziiih and German Motorized Inf to Panzergrenadier 4) Uboat VII autoproduction to 1 per week and Uboat IX autoproduction to 1 per 2 weeks. I will try again as Italy with "observer" units and see how these suggestions of our newsgroup play.
Any other suggestions?
