As mentioned earlier, its possible I will make changes to
the Polish start positions when its clear how long time the campaign in
France will take.

Rocoteh
I just said that germans have enough troops to overcome polish defenders even if they are placed in the cities....

wk6

wk 7

NOTES:

my mines up north got moved as a result of being in sweden/norway/finland's territory.

Paris could have fallen faster but its been 3 months since I have played and made a couple of silly mistakes: (cities in civil disorder-forgot to set governor and just kept putting troops in them. 2--didn't build any Panzer IIIe's till wk 47/48 as I wasn't sure if we were supposed to get them.) I was on Paris doorstep at week 45. Total time to take Paris from start, 10 weeks. If Panzer IIIe's are an option my guess is that it would have been under 6 weeks.

*Had to move 2/3's of luftwaffe to sountern germany to fend of the French push into Northern Italy. They took milan and were poised to take 2-3 more cities. reduced them with luftwaffe. Then had to hold them at bay with small contigent of planes as they kep pushing.

Also discovered that there is a city hidden under all fortresses at the maginot line. So French have that city and Milan left.

My sceince rate sucks! cant seem to improve it, and I am making 150/turn. I dont seem to be able to improve it past the 40 turn starting rate unless I got to 90% in which case it only drops 2-3 turns. :( and I am huge science buff: librarys, research labs yadi yadi yadi!!!!

Conclusions:

some kind of barrier for italy/france

If Panzer IIIe's are truly available then this is pretty darn close in terms of time frame.

andis-1,

Yes and I appreciate the information.
Initial positions for the Polish units will be rechecked
with regard to the next BETA.

oljb007,

Yes the units you mention should be possible to build at start.
With regard to harbour and airports, the reason must be that the
trade flag have been deleted in the editor.

oljb007,

Thank you for the report.
France defeated in 6 weeks. I think that is good.
It will mean (hopefully) that Germany-AI can reach that result in 15-20 weeks. When all Soviet units have been placed, Germany must leave
a substantial garrison in Poland. Overall I think this is very positive so far.

With regard to slow research. I mean there was constant critique on
earlier versions that they were to easy to win even on SID-level.
What you mention indicates that version 2.1 will be much more of
a challenge.

Thank you and welcome back.

Classical hero,

Are you sure you have placed the biq-file in the scenario-folder
of Conquests? Its a very common mistake to place it in the
scenarios-folder of CIV III instead.

I have downloaded a few secenarios and Modpacks and have got them to work. This is the only one that is not working, so I do know how to put a scenario in the right folder. That is not the problem. Thae game starts fine until it gets to the configuring the scenario. After awhile the game just stops and goes back to the desktop.

Classical hero,

OK I see.
Then at this moment I can not deliver a solution.

Anyone with ideas?

could it be that the extraction process of the large DL file became corrupt? i've seen this happen w/ my TCW scenario.

does an error message even appear or is it just a CTD?

A similar thing happened some time ago with a scenario I had downloaded.

I never identified exactly what the problem was ... all I did was delete all traces of the downloaded files, downloaded the files again, extracted them onto desktop and then dragged the files into the appropriate location.

This solved the problem for me so it may be worth a try. My best guess, as El Justo suggests, is a corrupt download/extraction.

I have found the problem. The download did not complete. I am now downloading it again. Hopefully this time it will down load properly. The first download stopped at 21 percent.

EDIT. :woohoo: The scenario now works. It took about 5 minutes to configure the scenario.

Classical hero,

I am very glad to hear that. Hope you will like WW2-Global.

Thank you to El Justo and Dazz_G for the help with this problem.

Comment on the BETA:

Placement of Soviet units will be complete today.
Will soon be away for some days again, but will after that
continue with Japan.

There will probably be a new BETA October 10.
Will also set a target date for version 2.1 at that time.

IarnGreiper,

Thank you. I will travel tomorrow and return on sunday.

The next BETA will introduce a new unit:

The Soviet Coastal Submarine. Attack 10 and defense 3.
These stats are due the fact it was small vessels: 150-200 tons
that carried only two torpedos.

My first turn took about 2 hours. I was playing as Germany. That is by far the longest I have ever played one turn.

Generally, turn times do get quicker but just wait until you have to square off with Russia while still fighting the British and Americans as in my current game ... turns are running approx 1 1/2 to 2 hours each. It's scary how much time you can loss to this scenario :crazyeye:

Ah yes turn times can be rather long for this scenario :D

Best advice is to turn off movement aninimation etc, and to listen to some good CD's!

Classical hero,

Some players only move a fraction of the naval units.
This will reduce the time it takes to play one turn, without
decrease of realism.
