WWII PBEM - Tora

Finally, some news!

It is probably a formality at this point, but the great USA has finally declared war on Germany. In an opportunistic strike, most of the German Atlantic Fleet has been sunk with minimal losses from American navy. The remaining Battleship and Destroyer is surrounded by American units with no hope of escape. Spy submarines in the English channel have killed one and damaged another German sub before escaping.

Also, the Germans began a seige of Johannesburg, and while many Allied losses were felt, the city still stands! The remains of the German army begin to recuperate while the Allies try to replenish lost forces...

the action finally begins to pick up in this game!

[OOC - finally!]

The siege of Johannesburg is over, the city now liberated from its bureaucratic masters to allow it to achieve its full potential under the banner of the Third Reich!

Despite losses in the Atlantic, American spy subs, which had been monitored for many months, have been hunted down and sunk following their inevitable act of cowardice.

Badly damaged, the remainder of the German fleet has retreated to... well, maybe that isn't news for general posting....

The Allies are saddened by the loss of Johannesburg. Our men died bravely defending freedom in Africa and their lives with not be in vain. Their long defense of the last city in Africa has given the American economic engine time to build the necessary infrastructure and troops to finally fight the evil nazis. And now the Commonwealth can at least use its gold to rush-buy other things other than units in Africa!

The American navy managed to track down the injured nazi battleship, however the destroyer has gotten away... he is only delaying the inevitable.

It's time to try something new: a pacificist democratic facist regime, but with mandatory communist education in the schools! :crazyeye:

While the US forces continue to frantically search for the missing destroyer, an American cruiser is ambushed by German submarines.

Funny you neglect to mention the 3 fighters of yours shot down by my air force. And essentially I traded a cruiser for a battleship, I'll take that trade every time.

In other news, Bob Hope was born, bringing about a glorious Golden Age for the United States of America!

It's time to try something new: a pacificist democratic facist regime, but with mandatory communist education in the schools! :crazyeye:

This is why we love civ so much!

Japan and the USA are at War!

The USA, in a very hostile action, moved their powerful fleet towards Japan, to a forbidden zone and within the range of the Imperial fleet, threatening it. The Emperor interpreted this action as an uncover act of war by the US. Measures were taken by the Imperial High Command.

The Imperial air force raided heavily the American fleet and, right after, the Imperial fleet engaged the American vessels in a fierce naval battle, inflicting a huge defeat to the US navy.

The Imperial navy lost the Battleship Izumo and the destroyer Nachi. The Americans lost all their battleships and mostly of their destroyers.

It can't be denied that this is a huge loss for the Americans. What the Japanese propaganda machine does not disclose, however, is that the American navy did not take any movement that could be considered "hostile". Our Pacific fleet simply moved closer to protect the innocent island of Hawaii! Considering the fleets had been staring each other down for months, President Roosevelt can't help but wonder if the Japanese attack was in direct response to the American actions against the Nazi fleet in the Atlantic.

Very well then, if the Axis wants war with the most powerful country in the world, they both shall have it!

The USA are using the banner of Democracy to hide their perverse intentions towards Japan. Hawaii didn't need to be more protected, as announced by the Americans. That´s pure hypocrisy. It was only an excuse for the American fleet to get closer to the Imperial Fleet and Japan, threatning Japan's vital space.

This week two more american submarines were sunk.

What's happening with the game? Stopped? Who's holding the turn? Will be the Americans at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean?...:lmao:

Neither do I!

American planes continue to bomb the retreating Japanese fleet... their strike was opportunistic, but not long lived, they were unable to do much with their advantage.

The Imperial Air Force continued the raids to the remaining American ships, and is discovering that the Pacific Ocean is full of American Submarines (well, some of them are now resting at the bottom of the ocean...).

Wow I never knew that "bomb ships in the harbor" mission existed. Makes sense though - this mod is awesome.

Americans hope the month of April, 1942 is a better one than March... sent on.

Yes, you can. And you can also attack planes that are on the ground.

But I've added a new houserule:
"Because of the strange bug, Air Missions Bombing Buildings and Bombing Factories is not allowed"
So this possibilities are not allowed due to this strange bug.

Wow I never knew that "bomb ships in the harbor" mission existed. Makes sense though - this mod is awesome.

Yes it is, but also has major flops, like the AA doesn't work on this MOD. That Flop contributed a lot to the success of the Japanese attack over the American fleet. US destroyers lost the hability to intercept planes.

This week the Japanese Imperial High Command discovered that the commanders of the remaining American fleet have Kamikaze tendencies...

In the sky, well, the dogfights between the Zeros and the American fighters ended with some advantage to the American pilots.

Yeah I'm still learning how to make these naval battles work out how I like. Luckily I do have some experience with air superiority! The fight continues in the Atlantic and Pacific... both sides losing ships and/or planes, it's interesting to see how the war of attrition works out. The American economic engine will prevail!
