XTR1--- Regent SG

Turn 1: We Three Kings and Istanbul build a settler. Deck the Halls builds a Galley. Ralph is disbanded, he is stuck in hostile territory and is not worth the effort for his two shields. Research is now done by a scientist, we are now saving like 12 gpt or something.
Turn 2: I notice someone sent a worker on a little irrigation errand down in Egypt. However, I can't see why. I'm loopy right now.
IBT Persia makes a demand for TM and 84 gold, he is on the other side of arabia, I tell him to shove it. He declares war.
Turn 3: I make an embassay with Arabia. We make an ROP.
Turn 4: Nothing much, Spears shuffled a bit.
Turn 5: Again, nothing much, I notice we still don't have a settler factory. I'm thinking that every time the save is loaded, citizens get shuffled a bit and goof.
Turn 6: Bolu founded, Urfa founded. A bunch of workers work. Gozpel stumbles upon some native savages and steals 25 gold from 'em.
Turn 7: Lots of workers working.
Turn 8: Zulu declares war, they have to go through Babylon and Arabia to get to us.
Turn 9: Bingol founded, a lot of spears produced.
Turn 10: Workers captured by Zulu, seems that they were already in Arabia. Hmm. Oh well, one lowly worker.

The Old Man of Europe

Good to see you back Affirmative :)

I suppose we can continue with 4 players, I think Hakon left since his C3C PTW didn't seem to be compatible.

Ah well, hopefully Smellincoffee still can be able to play between real life turns?

good turns affrimative! i will give SC a day or two to post, i dont have much time to grab it now because of finals at my school, so if you want gozpel jump in and grab it.

I can't play until tomorrow, if noone else taken it when I check back then I grab it.

I'm 'ere.

wow i have no time these days, my finals are here, so skip me when my turn comes up and i will be back to take them next rotation! i will be checking on the game of course

Inherited:

I spend a few minutes poking around the advisor screens attempting to gauge the state of our union. Three of our cities remain disconnected from the rest of the kingdom.

War:
We have an Average military compared to the Persians.
We have a Strong military compared to the Zulu.

Well, that's good. Unfortuanately, both the Persians and the Zulu are highly agressive, which means they'll refuse our envoys for a good while. We have an average military compared to the Carthaginians. Everyone else is weak. The Zulu didn't just declare war; they're in a military alliance with Persia.

Battle of Mulga: four companies of Zulu warriors attack Mulga. They lose half of their strength, but overwhelm us and burn the city to the ground. Grr..

Turn 1- 350 BC: Mutiny aboard our only galley causes it to sink. The people expand the palace, oblivious to the fate of the Mulgans. We Three Kings settler is done, jogs to Fawlty Towers. I plan to resettle on Mulga's ruins. Two Persian archers approach Aydin and we sneak some envoys over to talk with them. They're insulted at our terms for mutal peace. Uh-oh. We talk to them some more, and it turns out the Bank of Persia is pretty poor. All they want for peace is gold. Forty pieces, not so much to ask! It's a deal!

Now that the stronger of the two is out of the way-- with no reputation to boot-- we can focus on giving Shaka a stiff kick in the rear end. Shaka, by the way, refuses to see our envoys. He sends them home with their beards shaved halfway off and their robes cut to the rear*. Mean ol' Shaka.

Turn 2- 330 BC Shaka is definately not amused at our silk-tounged diplomats encouraging Persia to abandon the war effort, and he gets Rome to join his cause. Grief. Also, our military advisor says there's lots of guys in grey loincloths around one of our cities.

Just wondering, but can someone explain why we're using scientists as opposed to the bank to research? I realize this is used on the higher levels out of nessescity, but at regent it shouldn't be needed. The Bablyonians are three techs ahead of us.Then again, we're building the Great Library, so it might not matter. The Zulu warrior outside of Bingol fortifies, awaiting the arrival of his equally hairy friend.

Turn 3- 290

Battle of Bingol:

A Zulu company attacks the city, die. The other company doesn't attack, but remains squatting in their camps.

Turn 4- 270:

Found Riza where the go-to sent him. The area is filled with those delightful barbarian fellows. Troops arrive in Bingol.

Turn 5- 250:

Barbarians assault Riza; die. An armed escort guides our diplomats into the beautfiul hilltop city of Zimbabwe, where we force a council with Chief Shaka. ("Beetle", in their tounge. ) Our diplomats doubt that peace can be obtained simply for peace, so I authorize them to sweeten the pot. Sixty peices of gold later, Shaka is now our polite buddy. Our polite buddy with no reputation. Ah, how sweet it is to ruin the AI's life. Now all's left is Caesar!

Turn 6- 230

Gozpel survives an attack by barbarians, then decides he's had enough of this scenic mountainside crap and retreats to Riza.

Turn 7-210: New Mulga founded on Mulga's ruins. The settlers poke around the ashes for anything recognizable, but find nothing. I say we nuke those Zulu as soon as we win the game. Found "Kirkaleli" near Egypt.

Arabia signs a military alliance against us. I'm noticing a trend. A disturbing trend. Both are level four agressors, by the way.

Turn 8- 190 BC

Start shuffling swordsmen toward the Arabic border. They're close enough to do something to us ,despite the fact that they're weak compared to us.

Turn 9-170

We walk into Rome, where Caesar seems to be having a problem with his buddies in the Senate. He offers ten gold and a signed peace treaty if we beat them up for him. So we do. Caesar says something in that weird tounge of theirs to some fellow he calls "brute". I know who the real brute is-- Caesar! He's the third fella to lose his reputation.

Turn 10- 150 BC: Barbarians pillage improvements on one of our towns. Arabia shuffles a spearman toward our border, probably intent on pillaging. As word gets around that Sultan Smellincoffee has ended a third war, the people celebrate his name.

Next Player:

There is an entertainer in Izmit! Return him to his place in the fields. I had to turn him into an entertainer due to our sole policeman (the warrior) exiting the town to kill a barb horseman. Lone scientist in Adana. He was in Istanbul but I had happiness problems there and had to turn the scientist into an entertainer. There are barb horsemen on our eastern border. I've been focusing on jungle-clearing and city connections, so most of our workers are chopping wood.

And with that, Smellincoffee, the Venerable Peacemaker, picks up the sword to guard New Mulga.

:goodjob:

 Great turn log!

Have to love that write-up :D Nice diplo tactics there too.

I got it and will play soon.

Pre-turn: Teleportation on.
I see we are doing 10% research on Republic (12 turns to go) and see what happens when I move slider to zero. We gain 8 gpt, from 63 to 71. I take this opportunity to trade with Egypt, we get ivory for spices, WM and 139g.
I leave a scientist in Izmit, the city can't grow beyond 6 atm and Rep still in 12t. Put entertainer to work in Adana and library due in 2 instead of 3. Great Library due in 2 in Edrine.

Eek, there is a stack of 14 native and 3 foreign worker that will be attacked if I press enter! Darn barbhorses, there's a bunch of them. I shuffle some troops around and manage to put a spear on the workerstack.

130bc - IT - barbs pillage 2 tiles around Feliz Navidad and Edrine.
Izmit spear -> barracks. Notice Istanbul doesn't have barracks, switch from sword to that, due in 1t. Move out Smellincoffee from New Mulga to intercept an Arabian settler pair.

110bc - Istanbul barracks -> horseman. Edrine completes the Great Library -> barracks. Konya sword -> sword. Adana library -> horseman. Kafa settler -> horseman. Switch a couple of cities to barracks to give our upcoming troops veteran status.
I kill a couple of barbs in our territory. Clyde the conscript disposes of a barbhut, promotes to regular and gets 25g.
Arabia builds the Great Wall and Persia is constructing the Lighthouse.

90bc - IT - We learn Polytheism, Currency and Construction from the GLIB and we enter Middle Ages. We learn Monotheism.
Fawlty Towers swordsman -> horseman. Attack a barbhorse with a spear, who wins and promotes to elite.

70bc - Not much, trade WM around and gain 91g. A couple of cities is becoming unhappy, I set luxtax to 10% to keep production going.

50bc - Istanbul horse -> horse. We Three Kings sword -> horse. Aydin barracks -> horse. Adana horse -> horse. Bolu library -> barracks. Poprush library in Urfa for exactly 20 shields.

30bc - IT - We learn Monarchy from GLIB, I think we should wait to change gov until Republic.
Edrine barracks -> horse. Urfa library -> barracks. Attack settler guarded by 2 spears with horse, which dies. Attack with sword. kill one spear. Attack with reg warrior who dies. Attack with spear, who wins and promotes to elite. Stupid stunt, I know but I was tired of playing hide and seek and we got 2 new workers. Plus our swords are intact.

10bc - IT - Persia and Egypt are building Hanging Gardens.
Salonika library -> horse. New Mulga worker -> library. Karabuk founded -> library.

10 AD - Istanbul horse -> temple. Feliz Navidad barracks -> horse. Fawlty Towers horse -> library. Adana horse -> horse.
I check dip[lo and a couple of civs knows the Koreans. I buy contact from Greece for 103g and WM. Korea is backwards, but I sell our WM for their WM and 132g. I trade around the new contact and map and get 400g back. Zulu alone knows Republic, we are still 4 turns away.
I decide to get peace with Arabs for their WM and 31g. We will be in a new government soon and major infrastructure work will take place, no need for war just yet.

30 AD - Edrine horse -> settler. Kafa horse -> library.

50 AD - We Three Kings horse -> horse. Konya sword -> library. Sinop barracks -> horse. Denizli horse -> library. I buy an Arabian worker for WM and 105g.

We'll learn Republic in 2 turns, switch immediately and then start to build some marketplaces and stuff.
I think we should research Chivalry after govchange at a decent pace at least, we have the foundings - 3305g and 68gpt for now.
Deck the Halls is slowly building the lighthouse, I don't think we will be first to that or HG...if not, switch that to Palace as prebuild for another wonder.
Edrine's settler is due in 2t, grab some more jungle :)

The Save

Did "I" get that settler pair?

Nicely done. Sorry about not noticing our lack of barracks, but I didn't plan to get involved in four wars.

No sorry :) he was one step behind for a few turns, but next time mate, next time :)

Good turns good turns, who's up?

XTR or Hakon, I think. We're not exactly going by the first page roster.

Skip me. I don't think the patches have corrected the PTW problem, and I get an error message every time I load PTW.

Back to Affirmative, then?

Nah lets just wait for XTR. He won't be sick for too long, hopefully.
