Yet another Screen Res question

OK, so I've looked through the forum and I've tried the fixes but my screen resolution will still not change.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate
I have CIV 3 Complete Edition

I did a complete search and the only .ini file I found was one that was labeled "conquests.ini". I changed the conquests.ini file to have the
KeepRes=1 and started the game. Nada. Bubkus.

My monitor is 1440 by 900 Res.

Any other suggestions?

It's probably a compatibility issue with Vista. I don't have Vista myself but I have seen people having problems with it, mainly with .ini files not being in the correct folder

Make sure your conquests.ini is located in "C:\Program Files\Atari\Civilization III Complete\Conquests"

Alright, so I moved the conquests.ini file away from the "secret" path that Vista had it hidden in and now when I try to change the text with KeepRes=1 and save the following error occurs:

"Cannot creat the C:\Program Files\Atari\Civilization 3 Complete\Conquests\conquests.ini file

Make sure the file and path name are correct"

Anyone figure out Vista yet?

Happy to announce everything has been fixed...for anyone reading this thread, you have to turn of UAC in the control panel under users.

UAC is a device by Vista that won't allow to save in program files! I'm all for security, but jeez....

as an alternative, as I just discovered, if you don't want to run as admin, the copy of all the files that civ 3 writes are in the VirtualStore copy of program files which can be found at C:\Users\userid\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\
