I found this topic on GameFAQs, I got a good laugh out of it:

Today, I went to fix their daughter's PC...
Sweet Jesus...
Well, the problem was some socket error which I managed to track down to a piece of Spyware (didn't allow network access or anything) so I run Adaware... 994 entries. I delete all I could (it left like 34) and restart to get the rest. Now there are 104 entries that need to be cleaned O_o...
Now I run Spybot and get around 54 entries. Delete all I can and have to restart to get the rest, but I still can't get 4 entries... Ah well... No big deal...

So I start running a virus scanner... This is taking forever when it hits their temp internet files... I go check why and they have their temp internet folders set to 530MB each (4 user profiles)... For each account. Basically, I'm like, "Screw it" and just wipe all the temp internet files (couldn't get to 1 account though...) and set them to 25MB a piece...

So finally I leave and just tell their daughter to click clean or delete when done and call me if something's still ****ed up...

May not seem bad, but here are the system specs:
some e-machine:
1 GHz Celeron
256MB PC133 SDRAM
integrated graphics
20GB Ultra DMA HDD
Win XP Home
etc...
Each adaware scan ran about 30-50 minutes and each Spybot scan around 15-20.
I waited around 50 minutes for the virus scan... At the rate it was going, I'd expect it to take no less than 3 and a half hours. I didn't even wanna think about defragmenting the thing...

And I thought my parents'/sister's comp was bad with 540 adaware entries...

The funny thing though was when clearing out the temp files and seeing the file names quickly flash while being deleted, the father's account had a ****load of porn sites in his files... Wouldn't be so odd, but its his daughters' comp... in her room...

To be fair you can probably get porn links from browsing non porn sites as well...

yes, that's the line I use as well

 I'd have simply wiped out all windows and reinstalled in that situation...

Perhaps he accidently got into one and got 348 popups.

Or he got a popup and accidentally clicked on it and then continued to accidentally click on a few more...

My big brother had over 1000 files, when i was at his place for a weekend, while surfing the internet @ his computer there was porn under almost every letter.

And on his Windows Media Player it was a long list of porn that had been played, i found it quite amusing.

Hehe, the amateur porn surfer

:D

hehehe, went on my father-in-laws computer once, started typing an address in the browser and autofill was on, i was in tears of laughter as to what it autofilled to and so was the mrs when i told her

Thats the disadvantage of using a shared computer as even if you delete the history and temporary internet files then the absense of these will make people wonder why they have been deleted...

Use OPERA, make a copy of it and have it in a folder no-one will go to.

Use that to surf AND clear any data-miners, history, auto-fill, etc, etc, etc to be safe ;)

Currently I'm using a computer that I don't have to share so I don't mind too much at the moment.

That's what I do.;)

Another idea is to hide these folders so all you have to do is change the folder options and suddenly all those files will disappear, oh and rename them so that they don't come up in a search.

Yep, but that's why you can always set the History clear to delete the history once every day, therefore there's no surprise if there's no history there, since there's a one-day auto-delete :D...

Really, that's a lot of spyware though...

I would've just formated the HD, I mean, really, I look for almost any excuse I can to reboot and reinstall the OS, since it gets dusty. ONly problem is that ytou have to re0instal all those drivers and Windwos Updates, also the Utilities (Anti-virus, Spyware Scanner).
