Your favorite city name change

i use the random word generator. it picks words randomly from its encyclopedia. i made it while in english class. i was bored.

I like to pick fictional city names from books I've read, or perhaps games. Often I use the names of my SimCity 3000 Unlimited cities. But generally I stick to the default names. It's usually all custom or almost none at all for me.

I name my capital every time- Cecelia
The second city is called -Vincent
So if you see that in any of ur games , it is probably me (My name is the same anyway when i play online games or just Cecelia or Vincent)

I have done some silly renaming just for fun. I have played China as "Chairman Meow" and given all the cities names having to do with cats. I think I also did the same as Russia (Empress Cat-erine, capital Meowscow). Once I played as Ottomans, with the leader name "of Swat" - "Sultan of Swat" - and gave all the cities baseball names. Just for goofiness.

when the number of my cities overflows and the AI would choose some 'new xxx' as the name, i used to manually set the name to be those city names I know and not used by other civs. But in some games, I just had so many cities that overflew my city name memory. Then I began to use city01, city02... This made me feel that I would have infinite cities.

im in a game where for some reason after building the city called "new" it doesnt generate new names... so ive got bored, and my last few citys have been:

sdg
ghjg
sdfgdf
ghjg
ghgj

their only filling up terratory, i never expect them to do much so i really dont care.

I of course went through the fase of calling them "my ass" or something when i was about ten..

"Sir, We have just completed construction of the Pyramids in my ass"

I almost bothered to edit the civ text files to add even more humerous things.

(Army advisor) "Sir, you know how they say politics is about saying nice things until you find a big rock.. well lets get building some quarrys"

In multiplayer against my friend I always rename my cities to stupid names, such as Secret Volcano Base, Secret Island Lair, Ice Station Alpha etc.

@ Maverick maybe you can trick him by using the "Greenland" trick...not really so green!!! Maybe Ice station Alpha could be for that settler factory on a flood plain he can't see!!

I name my cities after cities in the fantasy novel I wrote. :D

During my first Monarch game I captured Tyre, and in honor of Biblical prophecies, renamed it Fishnet Spreading Area.

A long time ago I had claimed the iron outside my territory before the Egyptians could get it. I named the city Igottheironfirst. Later I named the newly-captured Egyptian city of Helopolis, Cleopatrasdum.

I generally keep the generic names untill the "new" ones hit. (I mean New New York??? Futurama! :P )Then I call them whatever comes to mind. I.E. Dulldrums, Spline, BeauRuin, Oil Central, Rubbers, or if I play on an Earth, or part of an Earth map I may try to name the cities according to their geographical location.

I generally rename everything I can, including my civilizations name. My civilization is usually named Adjeania, and the capital is usually named Adjeania. Then I just rename the rest of the citys with a word from a song I'm listening to.

Similar to Sub

When I still played un-modded I would rename everything including civ name. The city names were then related to my chosen theme.

eg
Civ = Mystics
Ruler = H.P.Lovecraft
Title = MagePope
City names were then picked from locations or entities of Cthulhu Mythos
eg. Arkham, Hastur, Glaaki, Leng, Necronomicon, Nyarlathotep, Yog-Sothoth, etc

First City would usually be Haven, Eden, Spore, Genesis, Seed, Virus depending on theme.

I do have a nomenclature for cities from other civs, which is basically keep original name and add to it.

Name >Civ captured
Name >Civ* captured capital
Name =Civ flipped city
Name +Civ through peace negotiation
Name >Civ*RIP last city and therefore destroyed civilisation.

Whatever word pops into my mind first (which might take a while) is the new city's name.

We make and change city names because we desire a level with the civ, a bond. I name my cities thisa way recently:

We Elected Bob!
We Love Bob!
We Adore Bob!
We Know Bob!
We Want Bob!
We Have Bob!
We Stole Bob!
We Hate Bob!
