Your favorite city name change

Playing as Rome, i always use my own set of names for cities. Too bad most of them are vulgar and/or obscene, so i guess i should not post these names here... :)
A few writable examples (translated from italian): Crap City, Dorktown.

you have a sick mind naming cities with "dirty" words. i like that in a person. lets go for coffe sometime. i perfer names that sound evil since they sound cool. I myself am imortal so death is something i enjoy.

@ Tr1cky I like that...Non Coordinato Citta' or Puzzo Citta'!! I think I will use those!

I usually call my cities like the song I am listening. When I found a city before a song's end and I already named one like that, I change song or I use the name of the band. Sometimes I take song's words also. When the title is too long, i break it between two or more cities.

With black metal days, my cities are EVIL. When I turn to conquest, they become EPIC...

Who would not want a capitol like "darkness forever hell" or "invocation of namaah"....

@ Riker...Wow! I guess Darkness Forever Hell sounds a little more intimidating to the Sumerians and Greeks than Bytheskin of yourteeth! I may have to try that when I play a deity game!

@Whomp: re-translated in italian, they would be "Città di Merda" and "Villacoglione" or "Coglionopoli"
PM me if you want some more names.
@Tearor: sure, why not?

If I am winning, I rename my capital my wife's name + polis, if I am losing I rename my capital my ex-wife's name + polis.

@tr1cky...Grazie! Love it! Now when I play I can have the torture museum in San Gimignano next to Citta' di Merda!!!
@ Luceafarul....how about....ex-wife+bad en

Well, in Civ2 I once named a city "I Smell Ass!" It was quite funny when the advisor popped up asking for a sewage system. Just one of those silly moments.

When the game begins suggesting names with "new" before, I have found myself naming them Thunderfall Town, Chieftess Town, SirPleb Town etc. :D

When playing a Civ 1 game I named all my cities after Latin terms that are somewhat commonly used in English: de facto, ex post facto, habeas corpus, opera omnia, etc. I did the same thing for French phrases in another game, come to think of it: de rigeur, tout suite, maitre d', hors d'ouvres, etc.

"stupidopolis" is my favorite

When I was playing on an earth map as the Americans, I was renaming my captured Aztec and Iroquois cities after gas stations. After all, I had only captured them for their oil in the first place :smoke::crazyeye:

Yup
I would name them all, but I just got a screenshot instead :p

(there's also Texoco further south- not in this shot and it's from Northern Canada)

edit: I just realised that I dont have an Amoco yet :mischief:

It's a matter of the subtlest skill. :p

Now, why people feel the need to rename cities? What's wrong with the pre-supplied names?

(This question doesn't apply to you if you only rename once you've worked thru the list.)
