Your favorite units?

I love longbows. I often release a sigh of relief once I'm able to build them, they are great defenders for their time and price. I'm also a big fan of riflemen, for the same reason - I'm the kind of player who thinks the best defense is a good defense.

Although my second favorite unit would definitely be Infantry. Their timing in the tech tree is impeccable; with a decent tech lead I can forgo artillery (again) and steamroll.

There was also that little incident with Lord Cardigan's cavalry at the Battle of Balaclava ("The Charge of the Light Brigade") as well as George Armstrong Custer's minor miscalculation at the Little Bighorn.

Well, I guess they generated more than their share of literature.

My pet-favorite unit is the Musketman. I always badly want mass draft strategies involving this unit to work.

Barring those, give me any Musketman UU. They're like having Rifling available long, long before you ordinarily would. Powerful and produced efficiently, they give you an edge that only grows as you bring more AIs to their knees.

I have a thing for Destroyers, especially early on when there is no answer to them. One of my all time favorite moves is to locate an AIs SoD, DoW on them, and be waiting in the middle of the ocean with a dozen Destroyers to meet their fleet of Galleons/Frigates. I'm sorry, did I just sink 1000 years of military production in one turn? Too bad.

That would be a great idea, unless you had Broadcast Towers. Then you would have the obligatory Entertainment Tonight film crew at the cavalry suicide, and Mary Hart would be blathering on about it for weeks in little tiny sound bites, annoying the heck out of everyone, and causing unhappiness in your cities - thus negating the benefit of 1 hit movie.

Favorite UU: Praetorian! Great early unit and reminds me or Rome:TW.
Favorite attack unit: Riflemen! Hah hah hah to the Knights with their "castles" and "walls" and all the other things that haven't kept with the times.

Favorite group of units in a situation: Mwah ha ha ha ha! An ICBM in every city, when I am head of the UN... Immediately After a proposed Non-proliferation treaty is signed, which the stupid hippy ai always seem to be suckered into. World Domination!
