[R&F] Your first game of Rise and Fall?

What’s wrong with role playing?

I quite like the idea as I want to shepherd Georgia to a Religious victory in a game, sometime.

It would be a win in my books and that’s all that counts.

Yeah, even by other standards it's a win. You set a goal and you achieve it. I'd count that as a win too : ) And I think it's a very cool way to play! I will have to try it out myself.

Civilization: Georgia
Difficulty: Emperor
Speed: Standard
Map: Continents
Size: Normal
Other Civs: The seven remaining new civs
Victory pursued: Science
First Governor: Dependa how game plays out.

I want to try some peaceful play using the new 10+ population cards that have replaced the 100% bonus output buildings cards.
Looking forward to seeing the benefits of a strong alliance and getting to grips with the golden age mechanic (thought Georgia seem best play around with for this).

Next up is Lautaro and some aggressive loyalty flipping.

Then I’ll probably return to playing as my one true love Cleopatra to see how her alliance boosts from trading work (and hope blindly she is allowed to build heavy chariots as well as Maryannous).

Civilization: Mapuche or Netherlands
Difficulty: King
Speed: Standard
Map: Continents
Size: Normal
Other Civs: Random: Victory pursued: Culture

I generally try to win a game on each victory before I decide to move up to the next victory; I got to Immortal on Civ V and I hope to pass it this time around. I just finished Science, Religion, & Domination on King with Germany, Australia, & Nubia respectively, so I figure Culture is last on the list! So I wanted to try out a cultural Civ first, and Mapuche or the Netherlands seems up next. Mapuche might be a little more interesting from a perspective of exploring the Loyalty mechanics, so I might gravitate towards that civ in particular. A nice break from the Eurocentric civs would be appreciated as well.

I'm actually tempted to drop a difficulty level based on what I seen on some streams. But of course those were deity streams. We'll just see how it goes. I may go barbs off instead (though that actually makes the AI civs stronger).

Definitely going to try Georgia, with 4-5 Zulu civilizations, maybe a Mongolia or two, see the hilarity of endless war!

In all seriousness though, Scotland will be my first game, with random civs on a standard speed, standard map game. See how the mechanics play out for the vanilla and DLC civs. Might drop back a difficulty level or two and see how it goes.

I just realized: my first game of Rise & Fall is going to be played drunk.

Every Wednesday (and Friday and Sunday too) I hit the local dive bar to serenade the college chicks with my rendition of Big & Rich's "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)"

Why on earth did Firaxis have to release this on one of the five nights a week I go out drinking?!?*

*Including Tuesday night Trivia and Saturday Night bar crawling

I actually want to do a true start Europe map. Doubtful the Mongols are on that map though.

Georgia
Prince or King (1 higher than Noble)
Marathon
Standard map
New CIVs
Space ship to the stars

I'll try peacuful. I always do but I can only take so many declared on or denouncements before I just solve the problem.

I might play as Mongolia first just for the sake of their music alone. It would also be cool to play as a horse culture, so it's a win win from my perspective. :king:

Of course, I will end up trying them all out.

Probably not. At least they wouldn't start there. ;)
Would Georgia even be on it?

Pursuing a loss on your first play through? I don't understand why you'd ever try to lose, let alone not even trying to win one first. This is blowing my mind.

That's actually a damn fine idea! Hmmm. Except its Gandhi. Maybe I'll play as Georgia and help Russia spread a religion.

But, since Ynaemp appears to not be working with the patch atm, and doubtful it will be ready as soon as the expansion drops, I guess I'll do a Cree game since they seem like fun.

When ynaemp is working again, its bagpipes. :bounce:

I'm so drunk right now...

Power blackout, then civ in thirty minutes...

I can confirm that the music is awesome. I can also confirm that the Mongols are awesome. :)

I am being a peacemonger and have only met 4 other AIs and have an alliance with 3 of them and friendship with the other. It’s one big love fest. Lol.

I just ragequit my first game. Still in the Classical Era, and every single one of the six city states on my continent has been conquered.

Started as Georgia, vs all the other new leaders, large continents map, standard speed, King difficulty. Turns out the Mapuche dude is a real dick :P

Noticed this behaviour aswell. I wish the AI was a little less dedicated to killing of City States.
