Your First Game

I'll chose Russia leader i dont know yet but if it is cathrine again then never mind (not that is dont liek females but i dont like her as Russian leader) and show me China with Mao as great leader, I'll play on second easyest lvl (what ever it will be called in Civ4) and try to be hindoeist or boedist so i can kick some christian ass and conquer the world :king:

I agree cathrine the great is a pointless leader. The truth is i never even heared of her till the game.

Stalin is most fitting (longest rule) But if they want a pre communist go with peter or Nicholas II (yes i know he was kicked out but he is well known)

First game will be Rome on whatever the default difficulty is (I assume it will be Regent). Based on how the game goes, I will increase the difficulty appropriately for the next game.

I always at least skim through a game's manual before playing, so I expect to do that as well with Civ4.

Easiest level (to get used to the new interface), France, Louis XIV, largest possible map, largest # of civilizations, Cultural or Space Race victory.

First game will be with the Americans (just like CivIII), dunno what victory type

Then after I'm familiar with the new additions, I'll play Mali and go for conquest to spread the greatness that is Mali over the entire world:D

Well, given that this represents a complete overhaul of the genre, you can bet that I will play at the lowest level possible in order to figure everything out (not that I have gotten beyond Monarch level in Civ3 anyway :mischief: ).
I will almost certainly play Rome and England-though under Elizabeth or Victoria I have yet to decide.
As for Victory Condition, probably Domination or Culture-whilst all the while cursing the fact that they didn't take the time to implement a decent Diplomatic or Economic victory condition  !!!

First Game...

On a gray, rainy November morning... :)

Buying my pre-ordered game here in Hungary in the nearby mall,
with excitement so high I could run all the way home...
(Oh, will I be able to have the game just at the time you guys in the US do?)

Anyway, I make secure that on that very day I get the game I am free,
no work, no... no nothing...

I don't think I will have the patience to look over the manual,
no, just instal and give it a stright ahead go...

on warlord level, with Rome...
go for Space Ship...

First Game,
On a 40 degrees celcius sunny brisbane december day in the air conditioning,
After finally waiting for a month whilst listening to all your comments which may or may not change the following answer, and paying $80 - $100 (yes 100 bucks)...
I dont know what nation i will play as, nor what difficulty (easy/middle). But i will go for one of the newer victory conditions (maybe religious) just to try them out and to be different.

The similar to nowadays regent (And I will get buttkicked, I assume  ).

Civ... Hmmh, don't know; probably Germany :D or random
victory: I have no idea...

I will read the manual (I always do) to even higher my expectations, and afterwards will sit in awe and watch the intro and my first game will take AGES since I will try to soak everything in..

American bucks?

No Aussie Bucks,
$1AU = approximatelly $0.70US varining all over the place at the moment. So $80 - $100AU is about $56 - $70US

The Australian Dollar is actually pretty high at the moment.

Mmm... Methinks I'll go for India, Ashoka, first time around, Chieftain-equivalent, of course skimming the manual to see what's new and if there are interesting historical sections to it.

After my first game, I intend to start modding it, unless I'm so entraced by the first game I am irresistably tempted to play a second.

Think of the Bright Side though, HourlyDaily. We here in Australia get a nice 1 month lag to hear what everyone else here is saying about the game-especially how good/bad, riveting/boring it is. This was very useful for me with Civ3, as it warned me not to leap right out of my chair and buy it the minute it hit the shelves. Instead, I waited until the first patches came out-and then some-just to be safe. I may well end up doing the same this time around too.

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.
