Your Hours Played

1104.4 hours + 240 hours with the SDK.

Which is nothing. I used to play WoW... I'd be scared to see what my total /played there was.

Guys, I'm between contracts. I made enough on the last one that I'm not in a rush to go back to the grind yet. You don't want to spend this much time on a game, it's obsessive-compulsive behavior, it's a character flaw.

Plus, I'm also pretty sure Steam counts the time we spend sipping beer as "playing" time. :)

The number is pretty meaningless for me--lots of times I leave the game running and go watch a movie with my wife, answer emails, take meals, etc. I'm at 1049 but I'm sure a good fourth of that doesn't count (if not more).

Both of these.

I've had times where I load up the game, get it started and then have to go off and do something. Or leave it running while making dinner, etc. So I don't think my numbers are 'actual' time either.

but apparently I'm only at 900 hrs.

Yeah, my number is a tiny miny 180, I also thaught that why am I wasting my time, but now every extra minute I play, I´m gonna love it more and more... My bra is in UK and that is the only place I talk and communicate with him, - CIV5 and steam, that´s good!

So, don´t be sad of wasted time, otherwise you´ll drink alcohol or smoke something, gaming is better than drugs... :)

Cheers to 2000 hour players, I sure would like to play with these guys some day! :)

I don't have many hours of Civ 5, under 100 hours.

But this is something that fascinates me. Sometimes I check at other people's profiles on Steam and am in awe. I've seen people with upwards of 5000 hours in specific games. This is literally the equivalent of a full-time job several years. Amazing. I wonder what kind of life project could have been born from so many hours? Would Mozart have been such a grand musician if he had been introduced to Civ or Counter-Strike in his youth? We may never know.

But really, it just makes it scary because it's one precise activity. In the end you can combine all of a "normal person"'s hobbies and while it may not be 5000 hours of Civ, it may be 5000 hours of combined TV watching, reading forums, posting pictures of cats on Facebook, etc. It's not a huge and epic life project either.

1950.
give or take probably less than 200hours of actual playing.
youtube is OP and it kills my sense of focus and drive!

a turn comes that i can't decide what is the optimal move or course of action?
tab out and go play one game of dota! thats easy 30min atleast

some leader bugging me and i dont know if i should get dragged into his war?
come on the forums and start looking things that has absolutely nothing to do with my game

in a war and dont know if i should rush buy that wall or another archer?
go get something to eat and watch tv so i completely forget that there is a turn waiting to be ended...........

75.5 hours. I'd probably have over 200 hours if I had a better PC. CiV is too heavy for my laptop

Yeah, if you leave the game on while you go eat dinner/go for a swim/etc etc or even leave it on overnight the time still counts. I'm around 900 I think.

hmm... I'm thinking my 900 hrs is actually too low:crazyeye:

I'm wondering if steam counts the hours when you're 'offline', as there was a very longer period of time where when I booted up the game, steam killed my wireless connection by asking to use it.

I'm only wondering this, since I had closer to 500hrs after 4 months many moons ago.

I often say that if I could harness the mental energy I've spent on Civ over the last 20 years that I would have a Nobel prize in...well, something.

oh, thank you guys!!! I was sure I'm crazy, but it turned out my 278 hours looks pretty normal from this thread's point of view :)

Nope, once it loses focus (screen-saver counts) it doesn't count.

I really do have a lot of hours twiddling with this silly game.

I'll go check this right now. I have to go home to get child seats to pick up my kids this evening. I'll start the game (I always play in online mode) then tab out of it. I'll check my hours played when I get home and see if they've changed.

122 hours from February till ~10th May. I didn't play much Civ5 during last month, I only played with the Danes a little. I hope to come back as soon as my semester at the uni ends and i don't get eaten by both AoEIII and Total War games.
