In canada it is, you can drink all your father's beers and not getting a fine, you may get something else.... but not a police fine.

But your father might for supplying alcohol to a minor.

I always thought that was a myth? Or is it true that underage smoking isn't illegal, just underage purchasing?

I was under the impression that underage smoking is not illegal, but purchasing was. Maybe that's just an Illinois thing, I don't know...but apperently not.
