- A finished tactical ai. Currently no naval or air ai to speak of...
- Pathfinding issues. This not only creates a more incompetant ai but it is very frustrating not being able to use my own roads or having to give repeat orders as units waddle into eachother. It also promotes unit blocking as a tactic. Ex. A fellow civ was moving a settler to one of my regions and I quickly moved in two horsemen to block him.
The insta heals suck too so please someone list it...he he.
Love the game, the main two things i'd like to see changed are:
1) Diplomacy doesn't need to be transparent but I would still like more ways to manipulate it. Pacts can definately be improved, also I'd prefer it if the AI dind't hate you for all eternity if you wipe out one civ (especially if its one that they asked you to DOW on). AI's should be happy to some extent to ally with a stronger civ (whilst still trying to win, they could get a backdoor domination or culture vic stil...) instead of banding together against you straight away
2) Allow two civilian units per tiles to make shuffling them a bit less arduous.
I know other people have bigger gripes but really all the rest of the imbalances are getting modded/patched out and aside from that i'm pretty happy.
1. Time - CivIV Vanilla is unplayable when you're used to BTS. I reckon the same improvements will happen with CivV.
2. A return to trait system used in Civ III and IV - this is the one change to the game that I definitely dislike, but I've no doubt that the most unbalanced aspects of the current implementation will be adjusted in the future.
1 - Allow reduced unit maintenance costs for when at peace or when at home defending
2 - Happiness on larger maps needs adjusting so the world can actually be populated
1. Improve the tactical AI. Protect siege units, don't suicide units against strong defenders, stuff like that...
2.Improve the UI. Especially the resource management/trading. Need to see who I can trade what with!
The second is just annoying - but the combat AI is crucial! Slaughtering clueless units who will impale themselves on my strong defenders, when they haven't already been massacred by my artillery before they ever get there, gets old very quickly!
Add some dynamics and tempo to the game. There are no bonuses to reaching techs first. Few units alter combat strategy. You can't kick start your nation with civics. Late buildings are uninspiring. The game isn't progressive.
