ZNES III - The Great War

It was rhetorical.

Why would you want to be a collapsing empire riddled with dissenters that has no decent military?

fantasmo. I have 2 words to tell you. SHUT UP! your flooding the thread with uneeded stupid posts and answer to psots that doesn't concern you! I was reading the thread only to see that evey 2nc post is yours! SHUT UP already and stop flooding the threads god damn it!

Ok i'll now relex... (btw keep flooding and destoryign the reading of the thread for others and I will report you...)

I would like to play as any neutral power... can I be some kind of an organization rather than some country? (Like jews in the war... or commies ;))

Important

I've updated the Nations page and I decided to give everyone their first choice nation as it seems most people prefer to be able to pick their own nation.

The game will not begin until all the Allies and Central Powers alliance nations have players.

I've also added two new sections to the rules:
Mobilisation
Your army has two sets of numbers, the number inside the brackets is your total number of troops, the number outside is the number of troops mobilised. Mobilising troops is a necessity before you can use them, unmobilised troops cannot make aggressive moves as quickly as mobilised troops and so therefore allow the target time to mobilise to defend itself. If you order unmobilised troops to attack an enemy they will mobilise automatically but it will mean that the enemy has forewarning and can prepare.

Mobilisation can take any amount of time depending on the numbers of troops being mobilised and the quality of your infrastructure although it will never take longer than one whole turn.

Updates
Each turn covers two months; for example Turn 1 is from the 4th of August to the 30th of September. The weather during the seasons can and will have an effect in this game so use it to your advantage.

I will try to update twice a week, probably on Tuesdays and Fridays. Updates shall not happen until all the members of the Allies and Central Powers alliances have given their orders. I promise to do my best with updates and make them as often as possible.
Remember any questions please ask.

Thanks :goodjob:

one note; I'm declaring for the allied powers side (as that how italy started out in the NES set up anyway) if for no other reason then between the french and the austrio-hungarian empire, i find the Austrio-hungarian empire slightlly more absurd. but not by much. ;)

Damn, I wanted England. However, France is acceptable, as is Austria or the Ottomans. Ah well, whatever I get, I'm in.
If you want to play as France then I think we can get started, Belgium doesn't need to be taken.

I never realised until I'd added all the players that nearly all of the main nations had been picked. Great to see that there is plenty of interest!

I will take Belgium.

As soon as you get the orders in...

Germany (strange that it is still open, hopefully there will not be any bias against the central powers)
There shall be no bias towards any nation. Success in this game depends upon the skill of the player.

Do you realize that the central powers plan to take over your nation. Join the allied alliance and defeat these imperialists. Austria will look to attack you next after Serbia.

To: Greece, Rumania, Bulgaria
From: Serbia

Join us, please! The Austrians wish to extend their repressive despotism over the whole Balkan region, and if we do not unite, then we shall be crushed between the Ottomans and the Austrians!

To: Italy
From: Serbia

So you have joined the Allies? We must plan military strategy, no?

It is not my policy at the moment to dedicate troops to war at such a time especially against my close friend Franz-Josef. As such I feel there is no direct threat from the Central Powers. Rumania shall prefer to retain her neutral status in this war to avoid unnecessary conflict.
Yours,
King Ferdinand I of Rumania

Bulgaria has no interest in declaring war upon the Central Powers as there is no evidence of the threat that they shall attempt to annex Bulgaria. I would be doing a disservice to my people if I were to declare war without any provocation and certainly not in the defence of Serbia.
Yours,
Tsar Ferdinand I of Bulgaria

Note: All of these replies are based off of information concerning each nations leaders found at firstworldwar.com It will certainly not be easy to sway many of the neutrals to enter the war just yet, many leaders of this time were wary of entering the war until they could see what was going to happen.

Serbia comes crawling upon it's knees now to Bulgaria? After your conduct against our nation in the past you expect our support? Bulgarian troops shall never fight for Serbia until we are given our share of the Balkan territory which was rightfully ours after the First Balkan War.
Yours,
Tsar Ferdinand I of Bulgaria

Notes: Nations should check their current mobilisation status. Remember the number outside the brackets is the number that is mobilised. The number inside the bracket is your total number of troops.

wait wait!, Italy is switching ? now is getting off balance, i say we start the nes BEFORE the assasination, so i can do some diplomatic manouvers, if we start at WW1, we start EXACTLY how ww1 started, otherwise not.
what do you think?

We ask for you assistance against the German agressors. We hoped to stay neutral in this war, but we cannot allow them to pass our lands to attack the peacefull French. Please help us to defend us from the evil Central Powers!

We cooperate to drive the Ottomans out of Europe, we aid you in war, and this is our repayment? Good day to you, sir.

then the majority of the war was fought off balence, as you will note, since very early on, appenrtlly, before italy had any real effec ton the war, it switeched to the allied side in return for land, specificlly, mos to fth eland cotaining itallian ethnic minorities (excluding the area of dalmatia for soem odd reason, whos epopulations were eventually shipped into Italy anyway, after WWII)

Well I was sceptical about allowing Italy to switch, but obviously the ruler of Italy has decided not to remain with the Central Powers. I want to point out that it is not a Mod decision but a player decision, I had Italy with the central powers but Xen as Italian leader has chosen to switch alliances...

Although I would like to point out that Germany is the most advantaged nation in the game with a very large mobilised force to begin with and a very high Military Quality for such a large force aswell as the largest industrial ability, so things are not that disadvantaged ;)
